I am doing a head gasket on a customers truck and I may end up buying it. I am wandering whats the best thing to use if I were planning on running a bigger turbo in the future. I don't wanna oring it. I will probably go ahead and stud it.

I would look into the new cometic gasket. It has o-rings built in and is shown to hold up to 80+ PSI. May be more than you need now, but couldnt hurt. And if you add HP down the road, your covered.

Just my . 02

If you are wanting a Cummins part number,

3283335 is stock thickness

3283337 is . 010" thicker

3283339 is . 020" thicker

The Cometic 12V head gasket is not yet available, about a month out.

Here's a picture of one being installed & tested. View attachment 66080

What is the advantage of going 0. 020" thicker unless the head has been shaved that amount? I still have the stock gasket in place but it seems to have a high failure rate at the water jacket.

You can call Cometic and get a 12valve MLS headgasket now. I have one sitting in my garage waiting for the new head thats being ported by Garrett from Pure Diesel Power.

Also have ARP 12mm studs to put in and a Fluidampr and a HTT 3pc. manifold.

Hopefully next week my truck will be runing again.

If you want I can get pics of it.

Do you have a part number for that 12V MLS gasket thats sitting in your garage?

Better yet, Pics and part numbers, from the 12v MLS gasket thats sitting in my garage, that I just went out to, to take some pics. :-laf

Sorry pics are a litte blurry. Also, its NOT on their website yet. You have to call them.

And a TEXAS welcome back to Piers. Really enjoyed the presentation you and Joe presented at Kerrville. Think that was about 7 years ago.

I am guessing the . 060" stands for gasket thickness. How does that compare to a stock gasket? Is it the same thickness as stock, or more like the . 020 over?

commetic H/G

there are no commetic H/G`s available, just called and they said that tey have scraped the production,if ya got one of the prototypes you got lucky. !looks like the stock Marine cummins is what you will be using. some people trim the 12 valve gasket and some just put it on and forget it,something like Ron Popeilset,:-laf set and forget it!
