I finally found and fixed my low boost problem. I posted the problem here in the past and you guys came through again. Oo. I had a blown out inake manifold gasket with some bolts missing where the old fuel filter once lived. Now that she's running real good while towing my trailer, I asked myself, What's next? :-laf I'm looking for a good and reliable power source for towing, not drag racing. I have the 80 HP EDM injectors, which pull real strong, the Comp box, so I can adjust the power level and turn if off completely, if needed. I have the AFE 2 air filter and 4 inch exhaust with the Hybrid 40 turbo and BD exhaust brake. I was thinking about Propane until the people here on the TDR advised me against it. It seems the 2001 HO engines are prone to head gaskets blowing if pushed with propane. All the manufactures of the propane units don't seem to have heard about that. I'm passing on the propane idea and looking at the Water Meth injection by Snow Performance. They have a towing application and I'm looking for feedback on it. Is there anything else out there for good towing pulling power? Thanks.

#1 Intercooler? I didn't think it was a problem with the 2001 models. I know Banks makes them for the 2003 Dodge models and up.

#1 Most likely not needed. While the stock unit has some room for improvement, it's probably never going to be an issue. Unless you are gonna run 100psi.



#2 Smarty. Adds tons of low end fueling that will help get your truck moving. It will light the turbo sooner and give the ability to change tire height in the computer, check and clear codes and work with all the popular fueling boxes. I would skip the comp and go straight to the TST/ Smarty combo. Good fuel economy and power when you want it. Smarty total power gains are similar to an EZ, but comes on much sooner.



#3 I was sleeping, but I now awake. I will be napping very soon.



#4 water/ meth is a drug. Say no to drugs. Actually, used properly, it could help towing temps. But, with added power comes added cylinder pressure. Go back to your propane observation.



Looks like you have decided on F1 injectors. great choice. Personally, I would take a hard look at your choice of electronics. This is based on my own experience only and only 4 comp boxes in less than 2 years. The TST has been flawless.

I already have the F1 injectors and Comp box along with the other goodies I mentioned. Just not the propane or water/meth yet. My Comp has been good to me for the last 2. 5 years. The F1's are sweet for low end power.

Nope. Cylinder pressure and backpressure seems to be the keys to remember. ETHs have it worse than the ETC, but why tempt fate?

I just put on my water meth kit. I run it off my windshield washer resevoir with just Peak washer fluid in it. I have not tried it with a load behind it yet. ijust had surgery and am not driving again yet. I does seem to spool the turbo faster though. And I have tooled it around a little and when go wot on a big hill and the water kicks in it keeps my egts pinned about 150-200 degree lower.



It does increase your cylinder pressure slightly. BUT you can control that. The more meth there is in your mix the more your cylinder pressure (and power) are increased. Now, if you run a mostly water mix it will not give you so much power but it will cool your egts more. A 50. 50 mix will give you a good combo of cooling to power. I run the Peak brand washer fluid be cause I didn't want to mount another resevoir and I wanted mainly cooling out of mine for towing. You can also Y in antother resevoir that has mostly meth if you want it for big numbers for a dyno day or something. I have not done that but probably will eventually.



Anotehr nice thing about the washer resevoir is that the low fluid light lets you know when it's time to refill rahter than having to guess when your getting low.

I am not really thinking pressure. How much drop in EGT would you expect?



There are few out for 2nd gen's and they are priced pretty close to the water / just say no to meth systems.
