I finally installed my SPS62 from the group buy way back. I hate to say but I sure hope something is wrong cause my EGT's are way worse then my stock turbo. Lag is there but I knew there would be some of that. The EGT's climb right of idle to 850-1200. I have the TST and have kept the same settings I had it on with my stock turbo. 3 power 2 torque. I even started to wonder if my EGT gauge that is built into my TST (R49) is incorrectly stating the temp but then I notice my temp climbs too. I can easily get to 1400 egt. I attempted to check for boost leaks and tightened up everything. Even takes a long time to cooldown @ an idle. To get it to 350 after a normal highway run it will take over 10mins of idle. I think something is wrong as I have heard nothing but praise on this turbo and at current experience, my stock turbo is much better. Thanks for the help.

Please keep us updated... . i'm planning on getting one as finances allow... . i'd be supprised if it's not something simple... . everyone's had excellent feedback on the product.

I'm curious too. I changed my intake and my muffler to an MBRP, and the EGTs are still almost the same as stock (with the Edge Juice on 3).

I sent back my 62 to II. . they went back and forth with me with servaral different people that work there. Kinda frustrating having to tell the same story over and over. They said they pulled it apart and it looked fine. . then a week later I called to get status and they told me the turbo would be sent out that day. . Took two weeks total to get my turbo back and I over-nighted it up there. They told me in the last phone conversation that they found something wrong with the wastegate. When I got the turbo back I couldn't tell if it was the one I sent up there or if they sent me back a new one. The exhaust side looked brand new. I took extra care to install this one as did the first. Checked for boost leaks, pre-oiled before start etc. . once installed I had to figure out how to get the rig out of Limp-mode. After 3-4 sucessful starts it finally went normal again. . I am still disappointed to say the least. In my opinion the stock turbo is far better in cooling in lower and top end RPM's. Seems the only area the SPS62 shines is mid rpm and maybe 50-100 egt cooler then the stock turbo. . the lag is a disappointment. Really bad when towing. Adding more fuel with the tst (above 4 power, 4 torque) makes no difference other then crazy heat. On the freeway when I gun it to get up to speed with traffic, I can hit almost 1500 degrees. Boost is 35ish psi. I just don't get it. . This turbo is supposedly the best all around for mild fueling. Maybe my larger tires? My stock turbo with the same TST settings out-shines this SPS62 hands down which goes against everything I have read. Maybe I am a better canidate for compounds? I can't imagine since all I have is a TST. I'm sure the SPS62 is a stronger turbo for sure but if it doesn't cool as well as the stock, I think it's a moot point. Not sure what I'll do @ this point. I sure don't want my rig down for another 2 weeks. In order to put my stock turbo back on, I'll have to re-configure my exhaust since I welded it up when I install the SPS62 the first time. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

just doesnt sound right, you checked the intercooler boots really good? Does it seem like its struggling to boost for you?

Sounds like you may have some kind of exhaust leak or other major issue going on. I 've had mine on for 15k miles now in 2. 5 months and wish I would've done it sooner. Boost seems as good as stock, EGT's down approximately 250-300* all around. Made 551 HP/ 1008 TQ last month, and my fuel and air filters were not in the best of shape at the time either.

kbond, I'm sorry to hear that there was no improvement. Your story sounds exactly the same as mine. When I complained, a few people here said I need to do more mods to the truck. All that did was make the truck burn lots of fuel and make it louder. I now also have lots of black soot on my rear bumper all the time.

I think a lot of people are probably wearing rose-colored glasses after spending so much coin on an upgrade. I think you and I are the only ones who have 'fessed up.

Sure did. . I actually made a tool with a gauge to plug on the turbo side boost hose (pre-intercooler) and used my air compressor to bring it up to 30 psi. . sprayed the hell out of everything with soapy water looking for any sign of leakage. didn't find even the slightest. figured I'd find something on the intercooler but nothing. It just feels like a big heavy pig. When I had my stocker on, it would move out pretty good and felt lighter on the toes.

wow. . wish I had your results. . I'd be reall happy with that. . infact that sounds very similar to what the guy said who sold me the SPS62. I'll check for exhaus leaks. I did pull the exhaust manifold off to install the turbo so maybe. I doubt anything else major is wrong with my rig as I had the exact same configuration as when my stock turbo was on and it ran pretty damn good. Thanks!!

Well I sure hope not. . that would be a lot of wasted money. I'll be calling II tomorrow and ask them for more help on this. Do you still have the turbo installed on your truck or did you pull it to replace it with the stock?

When I had my sps62 it seemed as though it spooled as well as the stock turbo and the egts were lower on mid and top. I am not sure whats going on with your sps62. I had the sps 62 / 14 80

yeah not sure either. I know something must be wrong since I can hit 1500 fairly easy. I don't remember ever getting over 1400 with my stock turbo.

Mine takes a while to spool then whines horribly when it does spool up pretty high. Industrial says send it in... . but i don't want to hassle with them for a month over it!

Here is My observation,My SPS62/12 is close to Stock spool-up. The injection system is Not as dependent on RPMs like the 2gens are,None the less 3gens are more dependent on rail pressure. Post CP3 pressure is not nearly as important as volume,The Rail is factory built for the application it was design for,any added HP will effect it. with the modded rail I was surprised to here so much positive feedback on the off the line performance. Also the Intake needs to be address. I ran several applications until BANKS released there Intake, I could pull the filter-minded to 80% easily on any system,No so With the BANKS intake,I have yet to see it pull down past 20%,the filter is so big you can stick your head in it,the opening is over 6. 5". Lost some Turbo sales do to my strong recommendation on the 62/12 ,Now after I have seen/heard the results of bigger is better (for the Dyno and track applications works great) Not so for street friendly owners. . II tubos are well design and built, just like HTT and ATS and others,But you need to build around the turbo. this way you spec the Truck for your application, and NOT the internet.

Some very good info. Thanks. I am pretty sure I have the 62/14. maybe I should switch to the 12. What rail mods are you talking about to help with off-the-line performance? My TST has that rail pressure option. . maybe I should hook it up. :)

I run the 62/14. It has great street manners and decent EGT's. . I'm not worried to say anything about my experiences with truck parts. . That's why we have the forums. .
