Wheel Well liners: Good or Bad...?

I have just purchased a 07 and am looking at the liners for mine. I note there are two differend parts numbers, does it make a difference? It appears the numbers are the same with (AB) added.

With my '03, no liners were installed from the factory.



I bought some and tried to install with my Kore Welds and Toyo 35's. They wouldn't fit. The only drawback for me was that my FASS would get coated in ice, slush, mud and grit over the winter months. Not a big deal, my FASS didn't fail. But I must have had 50+ lbs of ice and mud under each side of my truck from time to time.



My new '07 has these little 1/3 liners at the rear. It's nice to see that they did something to keep slush/mud from collecting behind the wheels, but why not install the whole liners? If I install another FASS (unlikely, probably will go with GDP) it would still be covered in slush.



I'm going to pull the 1/3 liner and install the full liners I had purchased for my '03. I'm hopeful that they'll fit. Nothing should have changed.



I really miss the steel fold-flat load floor, too. The plastic one is just so cheap. Pitiful.

Tell me about it. I choked when I saw that at an auto show. Heck, overall I thought the '07 interior was much cheaper than my '03 interior.



Last week I took the time to remove my wheel liners for their annual cleaning. There was quite a bit of nasty grime collected between the liner and the fender. But that's my fault because I coat them with grease before installing (to keep from rubbing off paint).



While I had them off I sprayed liberally the entire wheel well with black Rustoleum. Not a spot of rust so far, but I'm always on the lookout.

I installed mine and the under carriage is way clean back there, my truck throws alot of crap under the bed and the wheel well liners catch most of it. When I installed them I pressure washed underneath and had mud and dirt all over the bottom of the bed and fuel tank and driveshafts, now it is nice and clean down there, plus they give the truck a nice finished look. I don't think Ford or Chevy have wheel well liners, at least I have never seen a truck with them.

I bought a pair but have not installed them yet. I'm sort of clueless as to how to attach them (duh) I though they would bolt up to existing holes... Any help? Thanks!

Were they from the dealer? Mine had an instruction sheet with them that helped but they're really not too difficult. There is a right and left side. The holes line up with the existing ones, after you remove the flaps and 1/3 liners present. If you take your time, and make several trips to the toolbox like I did, you'll probably be done in a half hour. There are 2 different types of screws that come with it. The directions show which goes where.

I do recommend some anti-seize liberally applied to the screws before attaching. Those little metal body clips are not corrosion resistant.

They will fit, my 03 liners have been on my 05 and are now on the 06, they fit perfectly.

Use them, i undercoated the fender well lip where they would chafe from wind/vibration.

Tinman speaks the truth. There's no excuse for leaving off wheel well liners and lights under the hood. I'm embarrassed every time I take my truck to the shop and find myself confronted with a better equipped Ford or Chevy.

Chevy deleted the underhood light for at least a few years. They may have brought it back. Every truck goes through the Product Cheapening Department. I believe Dodge did it for the 2007's on the duallies by getting rid of that nice brake/running light in the middle of the tailgate to a smaller one under the tailgate. They trade from one spot to the next each year.



I am not sure I'd want to run liners on the new diesels with all the heat the exhaust generates.

My 2008 Laramie dually has the underhood light and I appreciate

the light bar under the tailgate when I have to take the tailgate off.
