Question: PSD Upgrades

Anyone see the TV show - "Modern Marvels - Pickup Trucks"

I know when Steve brought the archives back, all the user names had to be re-named "Archive" That's why you can't do a search using "CMECHANIC" as a user name. The only way his name would come up in a search is if another user referred to him in his post.

Too bad though, he had a lot of info to share, wish he was still on the boards.

hehehehe...to save myself from writing an e-mail....

Ok, once and for all, someone please tell us the story of CM. I have read the posts(some of them) and would like to get it all stright.

DF, did you try a search with his name in the "search" box insted of "name" box?

Andrew

Wasn't he a Chrysler dealer mechanic who told what really goes on in the dealer's service dept, management caught wind and told him stop or no more job?

He was a mechanic for Cummins. He gave out a bunch of great info. Apparently the info was too good and basically, he was ordered to stop.

As said above, unforetunately the only way to import the old threads without having to go to each thread and change the user number was to import them all as "Archive". Otherwise I would have had weeks worth of work to import them. I just tried to find another way to look up his posts, but unforetunately he didn't use a signature so there's no way. A search on "cmechanic" in the search by keyword feature will get some of the posts - but not many.

very true, and the posts that did turn up did not have any usefull information (to me)

As I recall CMECHANIC'S time on TDR was short but what a great contributor to the cause!!! I think he joined soon after the inception of TDR website and was gone a couple months after that (basically Aug-Sept 1999). He did pop in a couple times after that to say hello but didn't have anything of value information-wise to post.

Interesting note: His membership page says he was banned

CMECHANIC

It's true CMECHANIC was a Cummins factory wrench for a Cummins facility out here in the west. He taught me the first tidbits of information I ever learned. He got called into the boss's office one day and was told to shut up basically. He wasn't going to mess with his career at Cummins, wife and kid and all that you know. Suspiciously he also picked up a virus that crashed his 'puter at the same time.

We used to have rousing discussions about wether 4" exhausts were beneficial. There were some turbo topics that really got going. I remember Joe D. and Ted J. participating on those as well.

His last appearance was on my topic "My 5-Speed Is Toast". He had warned me about the effects of all that torque and horsepower.

CMECHANIC was a terrific asset to all of us here back in late "99. We prodded him for information as we tried to understand the then new ISB engine functions. Something he mentioned in an email near the time I lost contact with him was that we are going to like the common rail engine. He said we shouldn't worry about Cummins sitting on their hands. The new engine is strong, quiet, and economical. To me he was an ambassador of sorts.

To bad he's not here now to tutor us on the new common rail engine :(

Old Post

I love this old stuff. This is from the afore mentioned topic. This was after I was having some problems with my 5-speed stick transmission.

Somewhere CMECHANIC is shaking his head "I told you so". CMECHANIC, I need a Cummins xmisson!!! I'd like that with a Cummins clutch too. Hey, where are you anyway?? How am I supposed to pilot my way through my second adolesence without a

figurative curb?? Couldn't you reregister as Alice in Des Moine and post in a high voice? Hehehee

I will roll my Ram down to the foot of the drive as it is a $35,000 mail box now. I still enjoy sitting in it and playing my tapes of F15 Eagle fighter jets in full burn!!! Weee!!

_______________________________________________

The last comment is a reference to those that would purchase a 4" exhaust simply for the improved exhaust tone. He said, why not go to the nearest AFB and tape a F15 in full burn. And when you feel the need for good exhaust tone, simply slip the recorded tape into the the Sony and knock yourself out!

Ahhh, ..... that's some good stuff;)

Nowel,

In my time here at the TDR, I have read MANY posts from the past. Over 100 threads no doubt looking for useful info. The old stuff is WAY better then the new stuff.

The post I remember from CM is this one...

I got back on line Sunday, but i ran into a political quandry at work monday. By the powers that sign my pay check, the powers that build engines, and the powers that buy engines. it was requested that i only post in order to send owners to the offical web pages to the powers that be. That and i can say "oooh ! that is a pretty color blue truck". I can guess one or two places; or interests; that sent the virus. But, i'll leave it at that---and have no proof. I like the place that i work, getting married in two weeks, and a child in Jan. ; so i bow to the greater powers. But, i still want a crew cab.

CM was a true friend of the TDR-goer, and it's a shame what they did to him.

Steve,

Is there anyway to do whatever it is you need to do with just his name to get it to show up? Just hopping here, but I doubt it but, the only stupid question is the one left unasked right?

There are obviously some of us who would LOVE to get our hands on his old posts. :D

Andrew

Makes me wonder what happened to P Madrid, he had some good info. His last post was 8-25 so I wonder if he is busy or was told to quit as according to his profile he also works for Cummins out west.

Snuffing out cmechanic and threatening to sue us all over some 2 bit parts room software is proof of how much Cummins LOVES us loyal customers and appreciates our business. A LOT of noise and posturing over the software... but quiet as a church mouse when the threads are on lift pump and VP44 failures. Go Figure. I did. So long ISB.

My 1999 ISB had a fuel system as reliable as 70's GM Oldsmobile diesel. It's gone from here, and now so am I.

Choose wisely.
