My 96 was built at the Warren, MI plant. It's been a great truck with very few problems. These days most are made in Saltillo Mexico with a few from St. Louis. I had heard a while ago that all HD were going to be built in Mexico but I'm not sure of that has gone through yet. The thing I like most about US built trucks is that it allows a fellow US worker to buy something I've made. If you've ever seen the Saltillo plant area, you understand that most of the workers there don't have a lot of disposable income to buy things made here in the US.

Just my $0. 02

I say buy whatever makes you happy. When I am paying $50000 for a truck - I want the best built. I feel that they mexican made trucks are far superior to the us built trucks - only my opinion. I dont think that we make very good vehicles in America and GM almost being in bankruptcy and Ford struggling seem to back me up. Most American workers are like NBA players - lazy. There is no pride. That is what is killing USA auto manufacturing. WAIVER - all of these opinions are mine only and not necessarily yours or to your liking. :-{}

My St. Louis built 3500 has been great. Other than the auto taking a dump at 96K I'm only added to it. One thing they could do to make it more quiet is to put a power seat on the passenger side. My short wife, does NOT like the feeling of being in a high chair :{ . I added 4" of foam on the floor to quiet HER down. Now I can hear my noisey Cummins :-laf :cool: :D
