Where should I buy my parts?

I am about to buy a bunch of stuff for my truck and I was wondering who you recommend. My list includes: gauges and housings, DD trans pan, 3 piece exhaust manifold, injectors(at some point) and an air intake. I hope to find a good used 16cm housing for the turbo. I also want to do a 4" turbo back exhaust, but Stans is the only one I have found for the exhaust.



I have looked at genos garage and tst diesel, and several other diesel places on the internet, but I want to know who you recommend. Suggestions, links, horror stories?

I can vouch for Geno's service and question answering. Plus, they are an affiliate of the TDR. Prices on gauges and filters are VERY competitive to boot. Most of the TDR vendors/ sponsors/ advertisers I've spoken with are pertty good about answering questions. If someone wont answer a question, move on to someone else who will.

Has anyone used tst diesel?

It doesn't seem that I can get everything at one place.

I am having a hard time finding the 3 gauge pod for the top of the dash.



Here is what I am going to do so far:

3 piece exhaust manifold

16 cm2 housing

Double deep trans pan.

Boost gauge

Egt gauge

2 trans temp gauges(1 in pan, 1 inline in output)

Aux trans cooler with fan( mounted under bed)

4" exhaust. Does anyone make a true 4" downpipe?

Either modify my airbox or go complete air intake(Good filter either way)

Thinking about injectors from thedieseldude on ebay.



My goal is longevity and fuel mileage.



Did I miss anything? Any other suggestions?

Stan's is the only one I know of that has a true 4" downpipe. Or you can make one yourself. 2- 90s and a 15-20 deg piece, cutter of some sort, and a good welder.



I'd recommend going to ebay and spending $60 to get the dial indicator to set your timing, (after confirming true TDC) and KNOW where it is at for sure. Or come to SOP4, and PToombs and I can get it set for ya. He has the stuff to find TDC, I have the gauge.

Aux trans cooler, go to Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts | 800-230-3030 I bought one for about $150 for my cousins F550. It works great. I also got the temp switch that goes inline.

if i was going to buy some gauges i'd go to dieselmanor, there kits come with everything you need to install the gauges and wire up the lights and have very good instructions on there website, other than that everything else i'd buy from PDR, very good customer service

I believe genos has a gauge pod that can be modifyed to fit a first gen dash.

I might look into New Era performance for injectors, havent bought any there yet but intend to here in a little. they seem to have what I am looking for and he was the first not to get that look on his face like "you cant get 400hp out of a first gen engine look" when I told him what I am looking for.

I have purchased 99% of my products from PDR. The only thing that I was steered wrong on... ... . the turbo. I wish I would have been told I need an HX40 as I'm not opposed to a bit of lag.



They got the goods and are very firendly/helpful. I don't mind shipping cuz I know I'm getting the correct product and it will fit.
