I get to go on leave in three weeks... I'm in the service and so home sick for the Gila National Forrest "From Silver City, NM" I can't stand it! If you get the time try out that area and go toward lake Roberts, it's beautiful country. The east coast is nice in it's own way, like if you like sea food, but give me my "DRY" heat and mexican food!!! anyday... www.fs.fed.us/r3/gila/

www.gilanet.com/silverweb/gilaphoto/index.html Home of Billy the Kid's home stead and mom is barried there, lot's of wild west history.

I spent a couple of days in the parking lot of the race track (horse)(Ruidoso Downs). They have a Casino there, also.

The lot is huge & never came even close to filling-up.

No one bothered me or suggested that I move.

This IS just a parking lot, not an RV park so, no hook-ups. If you get into town late & just need a place to park overnight, that might work for you.

Ruidoso, NM is a beautiful place, as are many places in NM.

Greetings Bill.

There are a lot of campgrounds in the Ruidoso area. Ruidoso has a website www.ruidoso.net/ I can also make you a list if you would like, but most of them have pics and websites.

Welcome to TDR Carol. It's a good web site and lots of friendly and helpful folks. Happy birthday 5 days ago. Ruidoso is a great place to visit.

We have stayed at Twin Pines and Pine Ridge. No matter where you decide to stay, get your reservations in early or you might not get a space.
