Where to find a hitch?

I posted this in the towing/hauling forum as well, but thought I might get some more exposure here in the 1st Gen forum.



I was in an accident last month with my mom's truck, and the rear bumper was creamed, along with some minor damage to the rest of the truck. With some of the insurance money, Mom is looking for a 10K receiver style hitch, but cant find any locally- either 94+ or 7500#. No 10K first Gen. Will a 2nd Gen hitch bolt up, or do we need to look for a 1stGen specific hitch?

I don't think a second gen hitch will work, different frame width. JC Whitney lists a class III hitch (10,000 lb) for our trucks for $119. 99. The part number is ZX863113N.

The Reese Titan-V is available for first gen trucks, I have a Draw-tite that is 10,000 lbs weight carrying, I think 14K with weight distributing. I think Putnam makes a heavy duty hitch also.

Get a DMI cushion hitch, reciever style, and be done with it. If she tows much, it is a great investment.

The guy I commute with just had his replaced by the insurance company. On his 2nd Gen they installed a 12K capacity Hitch from Torklift. Honda with no brakes caused a small chain reaction.
