I am hopeing I am using the correct term here, but I am looking for the cold weather grill bra for friggid temps to help the truck keep warm  . Are they available? If so where? Thanks,

Robert

Bob,

I don't know anyone that makes one for ours. That doesn't mean they aren't out there. I don't really need one down here. But when it gets really cold, I have a piece of very thin plexiglas that I slide down between the intercooler and radiator.

I have been wondering, do any of you folks way up north ever run a dipstick heater into the auto transmission fill tube? Would that makes any more difference than idling in neutral for a few minutes??

I have a setup that puts snaps on the grille, to which you can attach a cold front in the winter or a bug screen in the summer (both are supplied as a kit).

The mfr is Fia in Winnipeg MN. http://www.gofia.com

Looks like the first gen combo now costs $49. 95US (WF923). Check this before ordering (which you can do online).

I would not recommend shopping at Victoria Secret for that. . :-laf :-laf

LL Bean or Land's End perhaps

My 91 with the top tank radiator stays warm even in the coldest temperatures... runs about the same summer or winter.

I used to use a piece of cardboard on my old Dodge Dart that wouldn't heat up, would go thru 2 or 3 pieces per winter. So if you strike out on a real grill cover, you can try that.

Yeah, I should have known I was going to get a ribbing for using that word. As for the card board trick, I do use one, although once you get below 30 * it just doesn't cut it. For example this morning, I let the truck idle for about 10 minutes or so, then drive 20 minutes to work, and by then the temp gauge is just getting to the first mark, and that is with cardboard and it was only 35* this morning! Once winter comes and we get -20's the trucks temp on that same monring run barely moves.

I will check out those links. Thanks.

Robert

P. S. in the summer in 95* heat, the temp gauge only reads about 3/4 way to the half way mark.

Also forgot to mention, I can not put snaps or snap ins in my grill because it is the custom tube Banks grill. See my readers rigs for pics of that. Any thoughts?

Cabela's

I got mine from Cabela's. It has a screen for summer and a "quilted" cover for winter. It uses snaps, but they are not drilled into the grille. They call it stick a stud, and they have been on since January of 2002 with no problems yet.
