Which 24-valve Cummins bombs easier or better, the HP engine (6-speed) or the "other" engine (automatic & 5-speed). I know this topic has been discussed before. (How would one find it in search mode?) I'm sure there are fresh views on the subject. Thanx. :p
 
It seems that the ETC are getting higher numbers then the ETH and doing it without melting pistons. The ETH has higher cylinder pressures.....



That being said, if you actually get into the engine and change things then I am not sure... ...
 
The ETH has a different version of the VP44 injection pump, different programming in the ECM & slightly smaller (that's right smaller) injectors. For these reasons the ETH responds to injector upgreads better than the ETC while the ETC responds better to tuneing boxes.
 
And just to confuse the issue a little bit... you could get a 'standard' output engine with a 6 speed in 99 and 2000. Although the 6 speed came late in 99 and 2000 was a short production year, so I think that combination is in the minority but they are out there (check out my sig)
