Cyl Sleeve height/Counter bore Gauge

Test Pressure Gauge

Our local Kmart closed about a year ago. I miss that store.
We had 2 of em. The one I mentioned is now a target. The other was part of a half mile long strip that’s been torn down and is now being rebuilt as a modern shopping Mecca. I hope to be outta here before that.

I can recall a few stores here inside the city selling firearms and ammo, most notably, Kmart. And that I distinctly remember that counter/ showcase being very unguarded and unattended.

I take it you can not go to a Wal Mart or K-Mart and buy a gun in New York?
How sad :(

They built a Dicks across from one of our garages about 10 years ago, and all of us were anticipating its opening, to see all the goodies like you’d see in any other Dicks. Well that day came, and all the fishing stuff was there, but no firearms, and not even archery. It’s gotten to the point that a gunsmith can’t make it in this town anymore. And BTW, there are no Wal Marts in NYC.

Ours is now an Aldi's and Big Lots.

Yeah, you don't really see Wallyworlds in upper rent districts, those are reserved for poor people. Kinda ironic given its such a democratic strong hold, and the people they claim to represent.
For what it's worth, we do not shop there. We support local business as much as possible even if it's more expensive.

My point was exactly what you just made....the ability to walk into XYZ store and buy your regular old consumer goods, an appliance, maybe dinner for the night....oh and that long gun you been eying for the last 6 months - appears to be fading away. Its a way of life, a cultural shift away from a gun being an appliance. It's not reached that level here and I hope it never does. Its admittedly disheartening not everyone feels that way.

My father-in-law was a career Army Dr. He retired as a Col. at the age of 60. Just prior to that, they purchased a house in Upstate NY, they had been in Queens prior to that.

Without exaggeration, it took him almost a year to get the permit just to purchase a handgun and another lengthy period of time to get a carry permit. In addition, my wife's uncle Geno was Sheriff of Broome County NY for many years. Even he couldn't speed up the process for him.

Yes, it is that bad there.

JR, the main reason for no Wallys in NYC, is similar to what just just happened to Amazon in Queens. It’s a labor issue and a politician getting greased issue.

There was a coast to coast in Flagstaff AZ where I grew up, they had stacks of 22 shells on the checkout counter. 99 cents per 50. They had them set up like any modern store would sell candy or gum at the checkout. We always bought a couple boxes.
Oh my.....I remember $.25/ 50ct, hollow points were higher, can't recall those for sure as we always bought regular rd nose. Some shorts also.

When my brother visits I take him to a local bar that is unlike any other I've ever seen.

The building is along a 2 lane road (the main highway so to speak), is back in the sticks, looking rundown, been there for decades, with long guns hanging from exposed rafters - all for sale. Most ammo behind the bar, but some on higher shelves along the wall. It also is the store for the small "camp ground" in the back. All sorts of "clutter" on the walls and all for sale. CB radios, figurines, etc. Decent food and decent prices.

I'm still scratching my head on that one. Whats equally as unbelievable is these people still have a job.

Where was this?!? I remember a Laneco close to Quakertown PA, where I grew up.

Quacktown, eh?! I used to go to a small cycle shop with my uncle in Richlandtown.

That would have been in Pohatcong Twsp. NJ. Most of the Laneco stores were former Falk's/Food Basket stored. Both were locally founded, but Laneco was then bought by a much large corpration. Can't recall the name.

I have two 1/4" drive S/K ratchet and socket sets.

One set was used and given to me by my Step-Father when I was buying my first set of tools before entering the 2 year Mechanic / Hydraulics technical college in Northern Maine. I still have every tool from that purchase....

The second set I found squirreled away behind the rear seat in his last pickup after he passed.

So both have a high value to me..

One ratchet was getting so it bound up when attempting to tighten anything and it would lock up tight...

I took to the net, found plenty of Amazon and eBay folk selling the kits for $25.00 or so...went to the S/K website...Lo and Behold they have a lifetime warranty on the ratchet kits....called the number, left a voice mail containing the part number to my ratchet and my address.....and a kit showed up at work for me.
Ratchet is now just like new...

That's impressive!!

Now I wonder how many of those jackwagons selling kits on eBay are conning S/K out of free kits.....
