Actually when I see a debaged truck I

When you remove all the badging. ie RAM 2500 4X4 etc... .

Makes for a cleaner looking truck.

think it's been wrecked and repainted.....

Just hit 43k miles. Had the computer that controls the grid heater replaced at about 16k to eliminate a check engine light that wouldn't go away. Other than that, she's been great.

You get rail dust if the truck was hauled by train. I Had that on a gm years ago, just little flecks of metal that show up on the paint. My 06 has been ok, I had a computer reflash, the trans leaked, and a loose radiator hose. All was fixed under warrenty now the truck is great, other than the open diff, fixing that next week, parts ordered. My truck has 29500 and smokes my neighbors powerjoke!!Oo.

bought my '06 w/ 17,200 on it two wks ago, first owner had the a/c door fixed already, does not miss a beat , ran a can of amsoil concentrate to clean her out for the 7hr trip home from the FORD DEALERSHIP... did have three days of rough idle after start up when cold, ... changed the fuel filter, black as night, rough idle went away.

49,800 miles on my 06. Been a flawless truck and it works for me all the time. I did take it in to get the TIPM flashed IOT get the trailer wiring to work correctly, but other than that, it has been TOP Notch. Truck is a great rig. Hope to get 350K out of it, at least. Scotty

mileage blows, reflash 1500miles, coolant leak from passenger side by the manifold tighten up the hose clamps, love my smarty almost as much as i love my megacab

I know this will sound minor but I think I'm seeing a trend here with loose clamps and leaking water coming from the passenger side. I came home from two weeks of work and my truck had a pink glacier of anti-freeze under the front. I found the hose clamp under the exhaust manifold on the small coolant line loose and weeping. I've been looking for that leak for months and it finally leaked long enough to leave a trail of scale down the block so I could find it.

I'm not going to vote because I don't know what constitutes a "lot of problems". I've had three that aren't directly related to my mods:



1) AC blend door broke

2) power steering hose had a pinhole leek.

3) Dealer installed Mopar remote start had too many issues to list, but I finally got it working.



In addition to that, the plastic fitting at the top of the fuel tank broke and I had a fuel leak and had to replace the factory lift pump in order to replace the fitting (which was a drag because I don't even use it). That could have been a factory issue, but since I have the Glacier fuel pump kit installed, I'm not sure whether to blame it on the factory or the GDP install.



As far as electrical problems go, I have noticed that it is critical to keep the battery cables tight. I'm always working on the truck, and on the odd occasion when I don't get the battery cables tightened back down weird things happen.



I also turned my stock transmission input shaft into shrapnel which was major dollars, but that was due to stacking too many power mods on top of a mostly stock transmission.



The most finicky system to work with as far as aftermarket mods go is the fuel system. So far I've had three different major fuel leaks develop as a result of my mods. Two around the fuel tank, and one around the fuel rail. I even got stranded once as a result of a blown fuel pump fuse.



Despite all the grief my mods have brought me, it is the most fun vehicle to drive that I've ever owned, and that includes my wife's '99 Corvette.

06 problems

If you look up service bulletins for the 06, mine has had every problem except reverse popping out of gear( knock on wood). They aren't major problems just annoying. however my dealer is very good about taking care of the problems. This kind of stuff is normal for new/updated models. especially true for fords, being a mechanic in a fleet of fords I will definately say they have as many problems with the new stuff. otherwise I love the truck, pulls like a freight train, but overdrive ratio to tall.

mines an '06 3500 SRW

I love my truck and am very happy with it. However, I have had to do the following in terms of failures/maintenance...

1. Transfer case replaced at 1,400 miles... wouldn't go into 4wd low or high
2. Front pinion seal replaced due to leaking
3. New reverse planetaries installed in G56 transmission to eliminate popping out of reverse.
4. Shocks in rear were completly shot at 40k. Fronts were marginal.
5. Vacuum pump on factory installed Jacobs exhaust brake siezed at 36k. Also broke serpentine belt, broke belt tensioner, and broke fan shroud.
6. Typical coolant leak on passenger side rear of engine. Fixed myself.
7. Air conditioning very warm from passenger side vents due to low refrigerant. Had to fix myself.
8. Torn shifter boot on transmission, allowing ATF to leak into cab and smell very strongly
9. Long start reflash TSB, along with 3 other TSB's
10. ALOT of sand/mud/dirt on and in fuel tank prior to roll-over valve recall

Hmmm, can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

However, driver's side unit bearings are beginning to whine loudly. Also, I'm getting an intermittant miss at idle, that I fear is injector related.

All in all, it's been pretty reliable throughout it's 48k mile life! :-laf
