The recent TDR has an article on guages. I would like other opinions and where I should go. I will also need a fuel pressure guage added along with the standard EGT,boost, temp.

I believe the VDO Vision gauges are the best out there. They are duplicates of the factory gauges in your dash. Same needles, same types of numbers etc... . identical.

They also look like the stock gauges at night because the light only comes through the numbers and markers... and the dial lights up just like the factory dash too.

They look totally OEM.

That's my take, I can take some pics of my gauges if you like and post them here...

I really like the SPA Techniques gauges. They are however pretty expensive and only come in Dual gauage set ups. I think that they had a Fuel press/Volt and Fuel Press/Water temp. They are digitial and have a recall function that gives Max readings etc which is kinda cool. just my 2 cents.

I'd like to see your guages if you don't mind. I'm thinking of mounting on my a-piller, what did they cost? where do I go? Are the guages difficult to hook up? I am new at this and don't have the experiece most of you have so I may need some guidence along the way.

There's nothing to installing gauges. It's all just fittings and wire. The most difficult one for someone inexperienced would be the EGT gauge. You will need to drill and tap the exhaust manifold... which is really pretty easy, you won't have any problems.

I'll get some pics tonight.

I have SPA techniques now,I used to have Westach's. I preffer the Westachs by far, they are stone reliable,My SPA guages always have something wrong, theres always a bad sender,or shorted pyro, everytime i get one fixed, another guage has a problem. They are cool looking, and have a lot of features . If i could get them to work right, theyd be my favorite guage by far. I havent had an EGT guage in 6 months.

another option

TST has a new unit out, pretty pricey but in the long run it may be cheaper, with egt,oil temp and boost. Controling max pre set output so you can't misatakingly melt your pistons! If I went this way I maybe could save the cost of the guages altogther. Am I missing something here? maybe be looking at this the wrong way penny wise and dollar stupid? just looking for opinions.

Here are some pics of the gauges. Bear with me, the pics are low quality... . gauges look much better in person.

Here are some night and day shots.

I bought them from Summit Racing. They're pretty cheap. I think all the gauges except the EGT were around 30 bucks each. The EGT was around 80 I think.

Hey curatchko-

I noticed that your boost guage only goes to 25 psi. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you have at the very least an edge box and modifed wastegate - you should be seeing nearly 30 psi on the boost. You would need at least a guage that could display that right? I do believe from your sig you have those mods... what are your max boost readings?

Do ya like it?

Yeah I really like it, but I guess not all gages will fit in it. My wheel barely clears it.

I bought the gauge before the mods. I have a boost elbow on it that allows 30 psi, and the gauge reflects it... I can estimate about 5 past the 25... . I just need a new guage and too lazy to take all that apart right now. :D

I also have VDO vision's, love 'em, I only have an EGT and boost, in the a-pillar. Bought thru egauges.com for about $225(?). My boost gauge goes up to 30, so it's plenty for me, until I can get this POS transmission outta here. Anyway, y'all take care, and GO YOU HAIRY (#5 ranked) DAWGS!!
