winch

So far I'm loving my 3500 C&C 4x4, but I am bumbed with my options for a winch set up so far. I was hoping to find a winch mount for a 12k to 15k lb winch that would fit behind/under the existing bumper. I really don't want to have to spend 2 grand to get a steel bumper set up for a winch. Anybody out there with winches on their cab and chassis? any ideas?

There isn't room for a good, powerful winch behind the stock bumper. I have the Reunel bumper and as far as it sticks out, there is still only modest clearance behind it to the intercooler with the Warn 16. 5 ti winch. Dodge managed such a behind the bumper mount with the recent “Power Wagon” because it had a V8 gas engine that was set back farther from the bumper than the Cummins and intercooler. You can find the writeups on rear and front winches and the Reunel bumper mounts in TDR #47, p. 14 and #51, p. 28. Strong bumpers are a good idea anyway. The stock bumpers are thin and mostly for “display” not use.
