Need a new FCM

Possible Brite Box trouble / damage??

I am thinking of adding a heavy duty aftermarket front bumper on my 2006 2500. I will putting some different fog lights in the bumper if I do (Piaa) and was wondering if someone knew a way to use my factory fog light wiring down at the bumper without damaging it (cutting off connector) to connect to the Piaa so I can still use the factory light knob on the dash to turn them on and off.

Is there some kind of adapter I can procure that will adapt the factory connector to one that will fit the Piaa?

Thanks for any and all info!

I've not seen any thing like what your looking for... we installed a custom brush guard on my 05, using (2) 4537 bulbs... (aircraft landing lights) and I installed a 40 amp relay, and an extra pacbrake shifter switch on the shifter... . the shifter switch sends a signal to ground closing the relay and turning on the lights... .

If the Piaa lights have more draw than the stock 35W bulbs in the fog light circuit it will trigger a FCM overload and a trouble code... you might consider using this connection for a trip and using a good relay, depending on the current draw of your lights...

Well thats an idea. Use the switch to trigger a seperate relay. I just didn't want to have to cut off any connectors and then deal with my dealer saying that I "altered" the wiring circuit should I have any problems down the road. The Piaas are definitely more wattage than 35w so that is a concern.

Not sure how the foglights are in your 06, but my 99 I would think about sacraficing the old bulbs for their connector.

Break the glass of the bulb, solder your new wires to that go to trip the new relay to the filment stems. Of course do all the good old heatshrink treatment and such.

If you want to keep from running wires across the engine.

Use 1 relay for the left, 1 relay for the right, wire to the battery on that side (make sure to use fuses). And that light socket for that side trips the relay on that side.

It's a bit more work than just one relay, but it's a nice de-rating for the relay, distributes the load current nice between the batteries, and one will be a mirror image of the other (so the 2nd one will go quicker) and no wires running across the front of the truck from side to side.

You can buy connectors that you assemble, they plug directly into our wiring harnesses just like the terminated end of the bulb side of the fogs. NAPA auto parts have them or will order them for you. I also saw them on the diesel manor.com website. You can put your relays right down at the lights, get a waterproof box from some place like Radio Shack, some relays are already waterproof. PIAA's website should have wiring diagrams as well, or contact them via the site contact, tell them what you want to do, they will provide you with a suggested wiring diagram. ALL of the light manufacturers will provide you with a ton of information, all you have to do is contact them.

I am putting a Road Armor bumper on my truck and installing aftermarket fogs, additional driving lights, and a winch. If you are doing the same right down to the winch, you can get your light power source right at the winch, as it has a straight hot line to the battery. Then your switch wiring will energize the relay for your lighting to draw from your hot source, same applies to the addition of other light switches inside the cab for any other lighting you add to your bumper. Run your switch control wiring to the switch then out to your relay, then from the relay to the lights, picking up you hotter power off the winch wiring that will be distributed to your relay.

I have the Road Armor on mine and am getting ready to wire in the lights as well. Im trying to figure out a connector to hook the relay trigger to my stock switch so that the inside stays stock and I dont chop the connector off the pig tail. Let me know if you find a PN to the female side of that connector.
