Have a 2006 2500 Reg cab 4X4 5. 9 diesel with manual transmission in a "no start" situation. It will not crank. All other functions work. Neg battery cables were loose - repaired. No blown fuses. Unable to locate fuse to starter solenoid. If pulled the truck started and ran fine. Could it be clutch safety switch or starter contacts?

I used to have several of these trucks when I owned a business... I sold them when they reached 450-500 K miles... never put a starter in one... . and never had a clutch switch go bad... . will the head lights and horn function at the same time... they are both large draw circuits... if not, re-check your connections, and check the charge level of the batteries... if both the head lights and horn work together... than I'd jump the starter solenoid to see if will crank... if you don't understand this term to power the solenoid than do not attempt this... make sure that the parking break is set and the transmission is in neutral... .

This is all I can do at this point I don't have a wiring diagram to check and advise...

I have replaced 2clutch interlock switches on my truck in 325,000 miles. The last time I by-passed the switch to be sure that was the problem, before I replaced it.

... . and listen for a clicking noise when you activate the starter. Are the guages and odometer staying up when you hit start? If so, look for something towards the starter electrically. The contacts could be bad if it just clicks. You can use a test light and see if it lights up at the small wire on the starter when you hit the start function. If not, then it's electcial behind there, such as a security switch, a clutch safety switch, or perhaps a fusible link or fuse. I've seen several that have the dealer installed anti-theft key next to the brake release handle, and it looses contact. A quick cleaning, or just a bump will clear up the problem for a while.

There should be a single connector (possibly grey) above/near the brake hydro boost along the bulkhead. That connector is the solenoid circuit. You can jump it from there, or disconnect it and check the body side with a test light while holding the key in the crank position. Make sure you have the correct wire before you hit it with B+.
