I noticed that these rate better than my AT Revo 2s now which for years were at the top so I was considering them. They are in the commercial on/off road category, whatever that means, and come in two sizes I am interested in.

285/70-17 and 315/70-17, both 121/118Q which I assume is enough load capacity for our 3/4 trucks.

Anyone know about these and if 315 will fit my stock 2500?

if those are good years, stay away from them... . I would not give them a penny... unless they were high performance z rated tires... but you cant run those on your truck... . :-laf

I used to think the same thing as goodguys75 about Goodyear truck tires, because they really were worthless. However, in the past few years Goodyear has redesigned their Wrangler tires and they are WAY better than they used to be. I got a set of the Silent Armors to replace the BFG All Terrain TA's I had. I had run BFG's for years and considered them to be one of the toughest 4x4 tires you could get. Then I read about the Silent Armors. They were getting really good reviews for traction and wear. One of the guys at the tire shop I go to had a set and he loved them. So I tried a set and I really like them. So now, after 51K, I am ready to replace them with either another set of Silent Armors or a set of Duratracs.

Basically, the sizes you are looking at are D load range tires (if that helps). Some on here prefer E load range tires because they haul/tow heavy. If you don't do that, or at least very often, then the D load range tires will be just fine. The commercial category means that they are rated for use on commercial vehicles that use the tires sizes in that category. As for the research that I've done on the Duratracs by reading customer reviews and searching other forums, it is all but unanimous that the Duratracs have excellent snow/mud/rain traction. A lot of folks like them for that alone. The two biggest issues that folks have with them are handling and tread life. There were some who complained about them feeling squashy. Some reported that went away after about 1K miles and then they were okay. Others disliked it enough to replace the tires. When I first got my Silent Armors, they felt the same way. I got used to it and after about 1K, the squashy feeling went away and they handled fine. Along those same lines, a few did complain about getting lower fuel mileage, same with the Silent Armors. I did notice a little bit of that up front, but then the mileage got better as the tires wore in. On the tread life issue, I noticed that folks were either getting really poor wear out of them 12K - 20K, or really good 45K+. I guess a lot of that is a function of your driving style, how well you take care of them, and how hard you use/abuse them.

This all being said, the only thing about the Duratrac that bothers me is the tread wear issue. Tires are too expensive to only be getting 12K - 15K miles out of. My last two sets of tires, one set of BFG's and the Silent Armors, I got 50K+ out of. If I could get at least 45K out of the Duratracs, I'd be happy. I currently run 285's on stock rims with a 2" leveling kit. If I go the Duratrac route I am definitely considering going with the 315's.

Anyone who has a set, I'd be glad to hear your experiences with them as well.

On my last Cummins I installed LR D's at the tire stores urging (Higher load carry rating, blah, blah, blah. ) Worst mistake I ever made on a truck. It was a handling nightmare even without the trailer.

Out of curiosity, which LR D's did you have put on that you didn't like and which LR do you normally like to run? I've only ever run LR D's and never had a problem.

I've been running the 275/18 DuraTracs on my F350 SRW 4x4 work truck for a little over a year now, 26,000+ miles and have been impressed with them for traction and wear. A little bit of noise at lower speeds but on the hiway you can't hear them. The truck sits at 11k+ daily, and I see no reason they won't make it to 35k for mileage. They are load range E 3625 lbs per tire rated. I personally wouldn't run anything but an E range tire on these trucks. When these wear out I hope they get replaced with the DuraTracs again.

I went to the D rated 285/70-17 AT Revo 2s. Great milage, good in snow although my Montero will do in 2wd what any of these trucks with any tire will do in 4wd. I tow a smaller 24 foot trailer. To be honest I have noticed no handling issues between these and the previous E rated. Also, my milage is awsome and double checked, it is not uncommon for me to run from Reno the the SF bay area, up the east side of the sierras and down the west then back again at 70+ where I can get away with it and average 20-21. On the way to SF I end up at relatives house clocking in at 25mpg. This is my main reason for not going to a new Dodge by the way, I like the 5. 9. Hope it holds up.
