Competition Input Shaft / Launching Question

On the way to the city last night, I noticed a Black Powerstroke up ahead with a nice lift kit and a chrome 5" exhaust with gauges.

Anyhow, I get up next to him then he proceeds to let the smoke roll, he's slightly behind me when he starts.

I have already set the TST to level 5, and the TS is turned up about half way. I roll into the throttle and easily start to pull away up to about 90mph.

Anyhow, he gets the picture and decides he doesnt want anymore!

Thats one down!

So we run together for about another 15 miles, we get into city traffic.

I see a Black Subaru WRX, anyhow the occupants are a young male and female.

I pull up next to them, they are in the fast lane. There is not too much room in this area due to congestion, but we do have probably a good 1500 feet in front of us open.

Anyhow, we do the rev rev stuff. You know we pull ahead of each other by a foot until were doing about 75mph.

Then its on! We both nail the gas up to about 95 and to my great suprise, he cannot pull ahead of me! He is probably a good 15 feet behind me at the higher speed.

The WRX looked stock and he had just purchased it used, it had the dealer tag in the window!

He then proceeds to pulll in behind me, we find an open spot then I nail it again, he tails right behind me until I have to lay on the brakes to do on coming congestion.

By this time were done messing around. Up comes the Black Powerstroke again, time he shoots me a THUMBS UP! for beating the WRX!

Overall this stuff is very fun, the truck suprised me. I didnt think it was that fast!

Nice !!! :-laf

You must have instageted the whole thing Bean Pole! :p

You probably drooling over the powerpoke, and the guy thought you were weird and was trying to get away.

The guy in the WRX probably thought you were after his girl since your usually all so lonesome at the pulls with your palmcorder  :-laf :-laf :-laf :D

Nice!!!

I had the same thing happen to me friday night. I was driving and came up to a white D-max. I rolled the window down and they said they were runnin a Edge comp box. We didnt get a light, but we got a clearing a little ways down. I figured a D-max with a comp would kill me. We raced from 60-100 or so. I pulled one length. I think the D-max shuts off at like 95 because all of a sudden I pulled hard on him.

we caught a Corvette and I passed him and got back in the right lane. I look in my mirror and the Corvette changed to the fast lane and was catching me. So I roll it on. He passed me about 70mph, but by 100 he was only 2 lengths ahead of me. I was surprised to say the least. and proud.

Ahh Mark,

Don't be jealous SON! :D :-laf

SON? Don't make me laugh! :-laf :-laf :-laf How many years actually seperate us? 2, 3, maybe 4??

Was nice to get a shot in at you for a change! :p Oo.

The kid in the WRX must have been a newbie and a non-shifting driver as with the power they make and as responsive as they are from about anywhere in the RPM band he should have cleaned your clock.  :-laf :-laf . Its was either that or he was paying better attention to his passenger than to you,LOL.

Now as for the Phord Phlowerpoke you know the old saying right(better jump into my flame retardant suit in case there is a Dockboy sighting in here later)...

"If you know you can not make no power, then lift it and add plenty of bling, bling" :-laf :-laf :-laf ... ... ... Andy

I beleive you about the WRX, I took down a fully whooped one a few nights ago. At first the guy gave it a half assed attempt untill I pulled the crap out of him, than he came back down shifting, I still ran away from him we started at 45 and by the time we were at 115 I had 5 lenths on him. Every time he shifted I could hear his blow off valves get further and further behind me. LOL.

I also took down a 97 Cobra mustang with a blower on it last week. That guy was cool about it though, He couldn't beleive it. We got him by about two cars.

Well I just out in a full Bottle, Time to go out hunting till bed time. :D

The WRX is not that fast, its the WRX STI that you have to watch out for, they are fast, very fast. My buddies stock STI ran a 13. 5 on about the fifth run he ever made down the track and that was launching with minimal boost.

Be carefull, but I guess we would never see a thread titled "I got wooped by a subaru" :)

Ive wooped a WRX before, until I hit my speedlimiter. He went by me like I was standing still. Its fun to challenge e'm I wouldn't expect to whoop e'm I have seen slightly modified WRXs run in the mid 11s.

John. .

I've witnessed a 92 Honda Civic equipped with a 1. 6 vTec make 532hp on fuel alone on a DynoJet and seen a Subaru WRX(non-StI) do almost 600 on a all wheel drive jet,so I don't believe what you see is always what they are,LOL. Down here sleepers are plentiful and when you feel you have gotten one up on someone, you may get your clocked cleaned. There is only one guy who can not fool anyone and he has a 10. 5" tire 70-1/2 Camaro which has a 732in Sonny Leonard motor laid in the rails. The car sitting still looks like a Motion Clone car, with ralley wheels and no caps or beauty rings, however, twist the key and you can tell,LOL. He has a tough time getting a game time on the summer weekends as most all know around here the motor had come from Rod Saboury's 57 Vette pro street car a few years ago.

Again, with the light weight of the WRX,no matter if it was a STI or not,he had to be asleep at the wheel or whispering sweet nothings into his hippee chicks ear or he would have abandoned the much heavier diesel from the roll... ... ..... Andy
