I have it installed on my truck. Very nice kit and based on Donaldson filters. I will try and snap a couple pics this weekend.

Just got the high mount I will be intalling it this Saturday. Looks like it is vary easy to install. I think it can be installed in about a half hour.

I was just looking at that also, esp after reading the Wygate saga! XX says their system

"was designed around the fuel demands of the Caterpillar 15liter engine"

My question was if the stock fuel pump would feed the 2 filter set-up. Morbius - no problems? how long have you had it?

Would they plug + stop the truck before letting water + crap through causing damage?

Also, I'm getting an Aero tank replacement for the stock + they have a drain plug - thinking that draining at the tank a little when I drain from the fuel filter might help.

I have had two of the Aero Tanks 60 Gal replacement tanks on my last two D/C trucks. I have never found any moisture in the Fuel Filter so I have never thought of draining the fuel tank, of course I live in dry Idaho.

Put 209,00 mi on my '98 and 50,000 on my 05

On my truck, I am running 4 filters total and all the way down to 2 microns no problems :) As soon as I get a chance I will snap some pics and one of the pressure gauge at the inlet of the CP3 pump so you can see the pressure.

The main thing I like about the xx filter kit is the bracket. Its very thick and there is no bending it. Its form fit and works like a charm. Its a well stocked kit and all parts work GREAT !

I like to use the 20 micron fleetguard water sep first, then a Donaldson 8 micron water sep, then a fleetguard 5 micron fuel/water filter (stock filter) and finally a Cat 2 micron fuel. Its one darn good clean fuel at the end. No fuss no muss and can run a higher bio mix.

Good to hear Aero works for you ;-) I never had problems in th 200,000mi I had on my '95 - just wondering if the high pressure 6. 7 is more sensitive + needs more filtration. That dodge has come out with a "severe duty fuel pump/filter system" sounds like there may be an issue - they haven't been prompt to enter after-market products before.

I am using the XX filters which are Donaldson P551313 and P550847 for now. I was an idiot and not paying attention and cut the gasket on my last FS1212 so was not able to use it. When my restock order comes in, I will switch them around so its correct.

What I should have put on is as follows from tank to CP3:

Fleetguard FS1212 (25 micron absolute) [may do something different later in the 15 to 20 range ... ]
Donaldson P550847 (10 micron @ 99%)
Fleetguard FS43258 FS-2 (5 micron @ 98. 7%)
Cat 1R-0750 (2 micron absolute)
BTW, XX advertises the P550847 filter to be 8 microns ..... its 10 at 99% according to Donaldson's own docs.

BTW, I know there are a lot of threads on micron rating of the Cat filter ... . Do not flame me about it. I do plan to swap the Cat 1R-0740 to Donaldson P551313 2 mic filter.

Morbius - thanks for the info. I have not read a lot but it IS confusing with the filtering claims. XX claims 8micro + 2 micron. Do you have specs that are different? It sounds like they re-name donaldson filters? It also sounds like a universal mounting since you are mixing filters.

Thanks for all the info.

Yes, they are re-named filters, the labels come off real easy. That was really silly on their part ! The could have saved money on printing, apply the labels and made the kits cheaper. I mean come on, everyone is going to pull the label off to see whats under .....

The base is nothing special, its a Baldwin FB1311.

The filter specs are on the Donaldson site, here is the link for the P550847 filter https://dynamic.donaldson.com/webc/WebStore/search/item_detail.html?section=10166&item=756334 .

Hope that helps.

Friends,

Now that I have the correct filters in correct location (shipment came in this morning) ..... here are couple pics of the installation on a '08 3500 4x4:

This shows Fleetguard FS1212, then Donaldson P550847. I added extra protection from what was supplied (this truck does farm/ranch life alot):

I cut the fuel line as close to the aux cab heater bracket as possible. In the future I plan to use that mount for an external pump and all the connection points will be right there:

This is the last filter before the CP3 pump (rated at 2 micron on old measurement standards, will be replaced later with a Donaldson P551313:

The stock filter is a fleetguard type 2 OEM filter which is supposed to be 5 micron. Fleetguard filters work just fine on the Baldwin head as long as its used with the supplied center mount gasket/ring. Only reason to use the center gasket/ring with fleetguard is because the center mounting area on the filter is recessed. Others have it flush with the outer part.

Hope the helps. Do not get me wrong, the kit is good to get ! Overall, very pleased and its working out great for my usage. Saves tons of time finding the right parts and places the filter up high and near transmission so NO smacking and leaving yourself stranded. It something was able to hit those filter in that location, your tank is gonna have a hole it and you will have much bigger problems

BTW, pics of the gauge at the above last filter to come shortly. Had to remove it since it was leaking and new one is on its way. I attached the gauge use the following right before that last 6AN 90 degree fitting:

Holley Performance Products Fuel Pressure Gauge Adapter*100199ERL
Holley Performance Products Fuel Pressure Gauge*100189ERL

Cheers !
