I had been having some problems with my trusty Cummins recently. My TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) was going south and my exhaust manifold was cracked.

I contacted the big dealer in Denver to see if they would fix it under warranty. They said sure... I dropped it off the night before then called them the next day. Then they told me NONE of it was covered under warranty! So I picked it up and went home angry.

Time to get the parts and do it myself... . Calling around I found that Cummins doesn't carry the TPS and it's a rather spendy $275 item. I found it at one of the other Denver area dealers but just for grins I decided to try the warranty thing again...

I spoke to the service manager who actually took the time to look up my truck's VIN and part numbers in his computer and he said it definitely is covered under warranty! I then told him about my cracked exhaust manifold and miss at idle when hot problems. He said it all should be covered under the warranty!

Two days later I had my truck back, new TPS, new exhaust manifold, and 6 new injector connector tubes!? Cost to me... $0. 00.

They replaced my manifold even though I drilled a big hole in it for the EGT probe. (it didn't crack where the hole was) The service manager also asked me how long I had my TST box and how I liked it even though I had it completely disconnected. It was obvious to the trained eye. It looked like a rat nibbled on the fuel pump wire. No voided warranty or anything! Just good service!

I'm still not sure about why they replaced the connector tubes (they already were replaced once) but I havn't had it hot enough to get the idle miss back.

Sean, I feel the same way about my dealer. Takes good care of me as well as everyone else. This dealer here will be the first dealership to get a 6th star!!!!! Pete

Sean, I was very happy to hear of the service you received at Broadway Dodge. I need to get the hitch recall done but I don’t want any butchers working on my truck! Myself and I think a lot of others believe that the dealers in the Denver area are the worst; maybe they "DC" grade the Five Stars on a curve. I will be contacting them soon; maybe the Colorado club should get in touch with them also.

I talked to the service guy today. He called me back to make sure everything was OK. He said that replacing some of that stuff under warranty was an error on their part. They should have only replaced the exhaust manifold. I guess I got lucky!

Sean, that surprises me about Christopher Dodge. I've had good luck there. I talked to their Cummins tech last summer at their customer appreciation day. He was really cool! He was telling everybody how the Cummins can be made to run with some mods! Some times the service writers get pretty cranky and testy! I've been happy with Southwest Dodge too. One of their techs is a TST dealer! Craig

Sean,
This is quite encouraging. I am still looking for a good dealer. I have been in the service business for over 30 years and have never seen service as poor as I have seen with car dealers. My experience has been that they lie, cheat and steal for a living!

Sean,

Glad to hear there are some good dealers in the Denver area. I recently moved here and was wanting to know which dealers are worthwhile to deal with which ones to avoid. Once we find out more about the "next generation" Ram I will make a decision on wether or not to purchase a truck before all the new changes. One of my concerns has been if there's a decent dealer to do business with in the area or if I will be making a trip to see Dave Smith. Customer Service AFTER the sale will hughly impact where I take my business. A fair price will also be taken into account, but the most important factor I'm considering is how I will be treated after the sale and ability to resolve warranty issues!! I'm looking for the "no hassle/haggle" service dept, not one which plays "warranty games".

Any input on Denver area dealers from those who live in the area will be greatly appreciated. I would like to hear reasons for both good and bad comments, overall impressions, and if you would good do buisness with them again.
