I was in need of some rear tires for my 2 wheel impaired truck and thought that I would try some Yokohama Geolandar AT+II's, well that was a mistake. The side walls on these things are like rubber bands, I mean this thing is all over the road at highway speeds with 80psi in them(tried 65psi to start and that was an adventure). I thought the Goodyears that I had were bad. Anyway, can anybody give me some info on the BFG M/T's? I would like an aggressive tread design, with a stiff sidewall, in the stock sized tire.

Thanks

The load range should give you a good indication of the sidewall characteristics. What is the LR of the Yokes? I'm guessing "C". Hard to find real treaddy tires in "E", but "D" should suffice.

I've tried several diff tires and have always come back to the BFG all terrain T/A's. Good stiff sidewall and the 245's are 10 ply E's. I've heard good things about the M/T's, except that they wear fast.

That is What You Would Think...

They feel like C's but they are in fact load range E's... I think that I will have them replaced today with BFG's.

Thanks

Sorry to hear this as they were actually a tire I thought I'd like for my 2WD 2500. I like the tread pattern. I did a little research on them some time ago and from what I read, none of the reviews by the owners of them complained about this. But I dont know if they were on a Dodge diesel.

The only sizes they show in E are 245/75R-16 and 235/85R-16.

I was considering Yokes for my upcoming set of 19. 5's. Anybody know if this issue continues up in the sizes? I was told they make "good cases".

I have 235/85/16 Yokohama Geolander AT+II on my dually and like Billy bob said they are mushy.

I don't think it is the side walls, I think it is actually the thread is too soft and squshes while you are driveing. The side walls are load range E 10 ply. My truck came with 215/85/16 tires and on a 99 dually the biggest tire you can put on without running into sidewall problems is the 235 series. I have hauled extreme weights and have never had side wall problems (as in rubbing together createing heat and blowing out), this is why I think it is the thread.

Any ways they are mushy feeling while driveing, funny thing is I don't notice it when I tow but unloaded there certainly is alot of playing with the steering wheel keeping it on the road and haveing a dually trying to run the depressed wheel tracks sure keeps you on your toes.

I have the Yokohoma AT 285/75/16. I like them alot. I have 20K miles on them which includes some 10K trailer loads and have nothing but positive to say about them. They are D rated.

I decided to try them after running Cooper Discoverer LT's since 1996. I love the Coopers but was bored and wanted something different.

I have balancing beads in them and rotated at 9K them 18K with no wear signs. I am impressed.

OBTW the Cooper tread is considerably better in slick stuff

I just put on 4 Geolander H/T-S in 265/75-16 D rated on my D 250.

I like them a lot so far... truck handles like a dream IMHO. I wanted to soften up the ride a bit from the E rated tires that were on it.

Yokos rated far better than anything else I read... except in here that is.

Putting on the flak vest... ...

I've now got 96K on my TY303s. I should be able to make it through at least the winter with them, but I won't have another winter of tread left... .

Sidewalls are still like iron. Tread is still reasonably square.

I'd get new ones if I could afford them.

my last set of tires are 10 ply Toyo 265/75/16 E open country's. i really like them, except that they've been wearing in the middle bad (so has a friend's ctd)... . but then again my truck eats tires ever 15-20k miles. they don't flex like my old TXR wild country pos's and have a decent tread.

Thanks fest3er, that's what I wanted to hear. They seem to have the closest to the tread pattern I want. How is slick or icy traction with those TY303's?

I'm looking pretty hard at the REVO's for my 2WD, but the big mail-order places don't carry B-stone or charge outrageous shipping.

So I'm waiting on a sale price. 174 is the going M&B per tire price here. If I can buy 'em cheap, my local guy will M&B for 10 bucks each.

Gonna put Buckshots on the 12v. :D
