After reading this I went directly to the BBB website and filed a complaint. Only took about 5 minutes. I agree, I think everyone of us that has had terrible service from Banks should file a complaint. Might make a difference, might not. But maybe some other people might be better informed before they buy something from Banks.

Someone must have said something... ... ... I see PeterT on the forums. He hasn't posted since March... . but today 7/24/01 He is present on the boards.

So maybe "our" concerns will be heard????????

Below you'll find a statement that I've been asked to post on behalf of Colin Banks.

PeterT

I want to introduce myself to everyone at TDR, as this is my first post. My name is Colin Banks. I am the oldest son of Gale Banks. I log on to TDR about once a week, and was appalled at what I read in the post by Kyle on 7-18-01. The title was “You would not believe what Tom at Banks said about TDR members” (posted in the Product/Accessories Forum). This was a complete embarrassment to Gale Banks Engineering. I have since talked to Kyle but want to take the time to again publicly apologize to him. I also apologize for Tom’s statements they are not representative of the way we wish to do business and they are certainly not representative of the way the rest of our staff feels about TDR and its members.

Banks was started by my father in 1958 as a mom and pop speed shop, but has grown into a large ever-expanding company. The company is still 100% family run. We still make everything in-house and we care about every last one of our customers. To help deal with after the point of sale issues we have added a Technical Department to deal with issues regarding the installation of our product, and a Customer Service Department to deal with issues such as billing or shipping. They can be reached toll free at 888-839-5600 for Customer Service, or 888-839-2700 for Technical Service. We feel that we are making great strides to better help our customers with the addition of these departments. We know that these departments are not perfect but we are working daily to try and make them as successful as is possible.

I think that TDR is a great organization and we value all of its members. I personally enjoy reading the discussion forums and hearing different peoples opinions. I do sometimes wonder why we are the only organization that receives negative attention. I know that we are a successful company, and I am beginning to wonder if some of the sniping that takes place is from people with hidden agendas or from other companies. We have no record of many of the customer service issues being talked about on this site, but we have to take everything as 100% valid and deal with it accordingly. We only ask that those who are complaining come out from behind your screen names, email or call and we will do all in our power to right anything that may have been offensive to you, no matter how long ago it occurred.

We are an American company who makes a quality product, which works as advertised, and we will continue to do so. We are still what we have always been, hot rodders, backed by a very strong engineering group.

P. S. If you ever have a problem or question please feel free to contact me at 1-800-438-7693 or e-mail me at -- email address removed --.

Thank you,

Colin Banks

Words are cheap.

Too little too late IMO.

If they are serious, how about asking people with existing/pre-existing problems to call for help.

Looks to me like you guys brought on the creation of two new departments at Banks. Congratulations boys!

I dare say, that Banks will now be more attentive to our needs.

I repeat... Isn't the Internet a powerful tool?

Doc

PS - My thanks to Colin for responding

Just read the post on behalf of Colin Banks.

If any of you people here a TDR believes what he posted I got some swamp land for sale. His post is the biggest joke I have seen in a long time. Talk about trying to suck up. If they really mean business they would fire the saleman.

"We are an American company who makes a quality product, which works as advertised, and we will continue to do so. We are still what we have always been, hot rodders, backed by a very strong engineering group. "

It is funny that they think they have a quality product. For reading the post here about 90% think their products are junk and do not work as advertised.

Words mean nothing, but actions do. You can't bet this is one person that will not even look at Banks products.

Kind of like Smith and Wesson, won't get any of my money.

Well Doc as you know I really hate to agree with you but your last post was on the money. This forum can have an impact if done right... ... ... ..... Pete

A challenge for Banks

Colin and or Peter,

I challenge you to take each complaint that's listed on this thread, resolve it and post your actions to resolve it here. I think this might go a long way in repairing some of the damage to your reputation among the nearly 9000 current (internet) TDR members. You up for it?

Not to beat you up too bad, but let me make one more comment. You'll notice I've spent quite a bit on my truck in performance parts and none of it is from Banks -- what I've read here (over the past year) has most definitely influenced my choice of vendors to give my money to.

Kurt, Now there is an intelligent way to resolve a Co. s problems. It's called putting your money where your mouth is. Now lets see if Banks is just paying lip service to what they say, or are they really willing to do something about these problems. It will be interesting to see what they do. Gunny

Well as you all can see Colin Banks is now listening. Instead of continuing to blast Banks, I would suggest that those of us who have complaints with Bank's products or service take Colin up on his offer and step forward and talk to him to resolve these problems. Its only fare to give Banks the chance to make things right. It would be a real shame to lose a company that has a good product for the enhancement of the Cummins. I understand that ALL companies go through growing pains and make mistakes along the way, and at times need a kick from the customers to get things right. If Colin Banks does what he says, then I think Banks will be a much better company for everyone concerned. Then if things don't change I will be first in line for the roasting of Banks Power ;).

Great post Kurt. You have opened a door that could build the Banks reputation on this forum to the " LEGENDARY VENDERS" status..... Problems are posted now the resolutions to be posted shortly..... great idea... ... ..... Pete

Thread Update

After sincere and careful review of the situation, I have decided it is time to close this thread.

I've been watching the discussion. Earlier today I found out that the Banks staff did not have the ability to post to the TDR Discussion Forums. Their previous username(s) had not yet been activated. I reactivated their account early this afternoon, and I just noticed the detailed post by Colin as well as the follow-up comments by Kyle.

This issue has been discussd/debated thoroughly over the past few days. Banks has now responded. If you have individual situations that need to be resolved, please take Colin up on his offer and contact him directly. Individual concerns/conflicts are almost always best handled one-on-one offline between the individuals involved.

I respectfully request your support of this decision.
