Autometers

Leaning towards Autometers because of the great things I've read about them here. I do like the idea of two guages in one like the SPA's, out of my price range though.

Where is the best place to purchase the guages? I'm looking for an EGT, Boost and Trans Temp on the A-pillar. More concerned with good customer service than saving a few dollars. Didn't I read here somewhere that ADT will paint the A-pillar pod for you to match your interior color? That would be a nice incentive for me to purchase through them.

Does Autometer offer a boost guage that registers higher than 30PSI?

Dave

BUFF can't go wrong with ADT

Buff,

Give Andy a call at ADT. Yes he will paint the pillar for free. I bought my set up from him, I have Autometer Z's and my boost guage goes to 60. You won't be sorry, super guys to deal with both Andy and Doug.

ADT

BFC,

I have read nothing but great things about Andy at ADT. These are the kind of folks who will get my buisness. Wish they were closer and I'd have them install them for me. I'll order the guages this week!

Thanks

Dave

I have Autometer Z-series. The look great but are too dark at night, hard to read. The trans. temp. gauge only goes to 250. I think this is a big negative. With the sender mounted in the cooler line I see 250 anytime I push the truck hard. Westach trans temp goes to 350. This is much better. I'm going with Westach for fuel pressure due to price of the Autometer being too high.

transmission temp......

Would you really want to see temps for your transmission higher than 250°. The transmission temp light on your truck comes on at 270° and from what I hear that's almost too late. I have a hard time getting mine anywhere near there. Even when the transmission was stock and I had a good load on an already heavy truck did it even come close to the 250° mark. You might want to check that out.

Garrett

Oh and the Z series boost comes in 35 and 60 lbs.

Blue Chip FMS!!!

I, own, use and like VDO and Autometer guages on the pillar, have considered the SPA and liked the memory feature but not the display. Got a Blue Chip FMS for one 24V and wow! The display dims at night and is on par with aviation quality readout/displays. With an HX-40 it's nice to know that I have 2. 6lbs of boost at 1973rpm on level road. The memory feature is great for dynoing or pulling (only have pulled once at Scheid's this yr. ). I use the boost/egt/rpm memory readout to self tune my setup (call an Ozark Mountain my "home dyno"). Found that a first generation "can style" K&N airfilter flows better then the conical K&N a. f. and the BHAF equals the 1rst Gen. K&N when clean. The FMS display will add fuel, one percent at a time and I know that I can empty the rotor of my VP 44 at a certain percent, before maxing the box at 63%. I know you asked about guages so the FMS has a "guage" or display that moniters the VP 44 and displays a relative "dwell time" while driving. Also like the fact that the FMS display sits lower then the guage pods on the pillar (easier to read). Forgot to mention that flashes low lift pump fuel pressures (below 5lbs), which I failed to catch before installing the FMS as I had to look down to see my analog fuel pressure guage--hard to do when making max power. The egt overtemp display flashes at whatever temperature you program in and it's easy to reprogram while towing. I never turn the fuel on while towing but the egt overtemp will display without the FMS fuel on. The flashing display gets your attention much better then a needle but I NEED dual turbo's so that feature would be LESS useful :D . Chip has a great product, great service, and some of the best engineering but does a lousy job of marketing these things. When people test drive the FMS they understand that it is an engine monitor as well as a fueling system. Sorry for the shameless advertising but I don't work for, or sell for Blue Chip. A year ago I would have said that analog guages are more quickly read, yada, yada, but using the FMS made me and the other FMS owners I spoken to, believers. :) :)

I believe Autometer does, but according to Geno's, there over $200 a pop, and that's why they don't carry them... .

Stewart Warner......

Pretty cheap too. Got two senders and a gauge for about $120.

There's a site called XK's unlimited that handles them. It's a Jaguar parts place.

A Minority Opinion!

I like my Westachs! 4 gauges in a 2-pod Autometer A-pillar mount. :D Yeah, I know you can get a limited selection of them at Geno's, but they have some really neat specialty stuff in their catalog - the dual fuel pressure gauge I have isn't even a catalog item, but Roger Westberg suggested it when I described my application.

JM2CW.

I really like the SPA. Asking this is like what color of truck is the best. I feel like there are several good ones on the market. I will admit the SPA was kinda pricey but I like them.
