Part of my family tree has a nice, long connection that reaches back to approx. 400AD.
swipe your hand over a map of Europe and I've got DNA from the whole area.

Germany,France,England,Ireland,Scotland(King Duncan thru his son, Malcolm!), Belgium, also got some Native American, but not clear whether Cherokee or Choctaw. To quote a line from one of those cheesy cop shows we all love so much, "I'm everywhere, pal. " (seems like that line may have been delivered by Don Johnson in Miami Vice)

Irish and English---but with enought Choctaw Indian to be card carring member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma (never been to Oklahoma) My paternal Grandfather was a U. S. Marshall in the Indian Territory.
He died of gunshot wounds received in a shoot out with baddies who came to the family ranch to seek revenge against him for a prison term they had just finished.

The most interesting thing a genealogical search found on my family history was dating back to the English Royals, and a castle in Scotland. But for the past few hundreds of years we've all been AMERICAN born and proud!

Let's see... Looking at the Guidry family tree, I see lot's of Thibodeaux, Fontenot, Bergeron, Bourgeois, Boudreax and one McCright. Hmm, dunno.

But I keep getting this awful craving for gumbo, boudin, and cafe au lait. Go figure! #ad

BTW: Pawpaw was full Black Irish!

Mostly German... and slightly Manx. My mom's folks came over from Germany on the boat, so I have 1/2 family that fought for the alies, and 1/2 that fought for the Nazi's. . LOL . . if we could get the whole fam damily together, sounds like interresting dinner conversation!

Well, my great great..... grand father was a Hatfield. He was the patriarch (sp??) of the group that didnt like the McCoys. If your name is McCoy, dont come around here when I'm target practicing, you might be next. #ad

Well, my grand parents are Skeens = Skein german, Human ????, Washnock = Washknockski pollock, Giltner ????. The Skeens and Human are from eastern Tennissee, Washknock from eastern Kentucky, and Giltner from southern Indiana.

Scot, Irish, German, English, and a wee bit of Dutch. My dad research the family tree when he retired. Some of our ancestors fought at Colaudon(sp?). Apparently some of them even survived those english ba$tards. Oh... . sorry I guess we should be keeping this lite and fun. Don't want another "Braveheart" moment. The story that my wife likes the most is the one where two bans of Scots meet at a clearing. Neither will yeild to the other. So, they start hacking away at each other till the last two are left. Then they discover that they are from the same clan. Yes, I did not come from a clan of rocket sientists.
patriot, your right, but I think all of the northern euro gave us bad tempers.
The wife's family is russian on both side. A good sense of humor, but don't get them pi$$ed either.

Thats where the word "vandal" came from isnt it? It's what my ancestors did for a living. #ad

Can somebody explain "black Irish" ? My Mom has dark features, and I look more like a ginnie than german/irish. Dark skin, hair, eyes etc. Is this it?
None of my friends could ever understand my Mother. Wife still has a hard time. #ad

My Aunt and Uncle was here last summer from Ireland. It wasnt too difficult to understand my Aunt, she spent some years in England (I have to spit and wash my mouth out now... ) and it has made her broag a little less sharp.
My uncle had a VERY thick broag.
