Good-bye EcoDiesel, Hello Cummins

So, I have a new 2500 Bighorn on order, trying to beat the chaos that is coming for Ram. If the 25% tariff hits next week, what will happen to an order place before?? Will that mean a $74k truck is now $92k? Will Ram absorb some or all of that or pass it on? If they don't, sales will come to a halt. Plus, trade in value is dropping daily, due to the massive discounts on old inventory.

I assume Ram will move their production back here, ASAP. However, that takes time. Might be a bad year for Ram and customers. For sure, I won't be buying a $92k truck.

comrade - i have read that there will be a target date of when the tarrifs begin, with a grace period of say, 6 months, to give ram a chance to move back here. also read ram will not absorb the cost of the tarrif. there are also rumors of financial assistance from chrysler financial for negative equity ram owners looking to trade in their trucks on another ram. they know that the discounts are going to drop trade in value big time. bringing jobs back here , in my o, is a good thing. my foreign made 2500 is the biggest POS vehicle ive ever owned, but i like it. call it an abusive relationship. lol cheers! :)

As far as tariffs go, that is a double edged sword that cuts in both ways and the end buyer is always the one who pays the tariff.

It took 40 years to destroy all the labor unions and manufacturing in this country and the same amount of time to move those jobs offshore
so its not like someone can move or build any large manufacturing plant in 6 months so don't hold your breath on that.

One last thought, if I had a crystal ball, I would own the street named Wall. :)

if the end user paid the tariff , then tarrifs wouldnt work. the tariff motivates the company to move to avoid the tariff. otherwise, they would just charge 92 k for the above truck and stay put. the problem is, is that they wont sell any trucks when they are 25 percent above ford and gm for a truck in the same class.

cheers! :)

Thank you, I am kinda scared, so many unknowns. I will trade the '21 in. It is a fine truck but I am not loyal to it yet. I really like the 4th gen cabs.

It will have the Level 1 Equipment group,

Love it!

Does the GVWR over 10K effect you?

I am good, as long as I have a 3/4 ton, nothing is said about GVW.

I am curious why not a 3500 along with the rear air?

I would love one of those.

But I haul under strict AZ DOT rules that say this:

Any 3/4 ton (or less) pickup, van or car, stay at or under 20 hours a week, I can haul for pay, and be non-commercial.

Amazing they still charge 195$ for two plastic wheel arches the value of 2$ that should have been standard equipment years ago.
Unbelievable

break one of those plastic wheel covers that they use on these trucks and start thinking and get the same thought.
Shoot I needed one of the rubber bushings for the manual shift on the transfer case, dealer wanted 44 dollars for what amounts to a small piece of rubber with a hole init..
.. I told them to keep them..
gives new meaning to stealership".

Not sure.

I got a feeling after the last debacle with the CARB/EPA, they may not want to take chances.

The whole point of the CP4 was for the higher rail pressures, even though it has less flow. I think the CP3 is 26,000 PSI and the CP4 could deliver 29,000 PSI (actually more like 39,000 PSI on certain designs). 3,000+ PSI is a lot in the grand scheme of things for atomization of fuel for tighter emissions.

My thoughts are Cummins/RAM is prepping themselves for EPA2027 tightened emissions. More so, if it's like anything else we learned in history with Cummins.

I'm perfectly fine if they stick with the CP3. :D

I'm sitting back watching with my bag of popcorn.
Maybe with the change of command the emissions requirements will be left alone.
