the truck I had before my 06 was an '02 4x4 with the plain ole regular mirrors which served me well, the gave me a wide FOV which allowed me to adjust them where they needed to be as well as be able to see down on the road where my trailer wheels are, this is very nice when going around curbs etc, as well as normal backing up of the truck, with these tow mirrors that came on my 06 I find them with a much narrower FOV, they will not be adjusted right if you have them set to see your trailer tires, they will be too low to see as yo should. I have hit a couple things because the mirrors simply just can't see what the old regular ones did. also the stupid mirror bubble is one of the things I hate the most, if you adjust your mirrors properly you don't need a bubble!! it is also placed in a location on the mirror that you need the most the upper outside corner. does anyone know if I can put some of the standard mirrors like what comes on the 1/2 tons and still retain the power function??

Ditto

I agree with Forrest the stock tow mirrors are awesome. I especially love the bubble. I call it the blind spot mirror. I don't have to look over my shoulder. I have not used them for towing as of yet but i will be putting them to the test next summer hopefully.

my wife wants me to put the tow mirrors on her mercedes.

I seem to like them. I do not have to look over my shoulder to change lanes although I still do for the most part.

the tow mirrors are crap the convex mirror takes up mirror space and u still have a blind spot and yto cover it u need add another convex yet taking up more of the main mirror space and when towing you can never see all u need to see without a mirror adjustment

i have some pics of the ones i got to replace the stock mirrors i will be home in awhile and post ( im on my phone right now)

looks like i am somewhat in the minority, with the regular mirrors on my '02 I didn't have to look either, if you adjust both mirrors so that they are just ever so slightly past seeing the side of the truck you will have gotten rid of any blind spot that cannot be seen when you turn your head slightly to look out the mirror, the drivers side is where there can be slightly more blind spot however with correctly adjusted mirrors this goes away because you should pick it up out of the corner of your eye when your head turns slightly, the problem with the tow setup is it requires two looks to make a lane change one in the main mirror and one in the bubble this also makes it a little harder to judge how fast another car could be overtakeing you, that is what I hate the most I want one quick look as some times I need to make a quick decision. that and the lack of being able to see the ground and where exactly my trailer wheels are at, the regular mirrors worked fine for me even pulling a travel trailer, the few times I needed to do that I just waged the trailer a bit and it would give me a quick view. anyone reading this close to me and wanna trade I would be game

48' of 102" wide container behind me and I can see just fine... don't know what you are doing wrong?? you're not one of those people that has to see the side of their truck in the mirror now, are you?

I'll grant you that the field of vision could be better, especially vertically. I also like to be able to see the track of the trailer axles, like old west coast mirrors would allow. The spot mirrors have saved my bacon on several occasions when cars are determined to hover in my blind spot. Could the mirrors be better? Sure. Are they garbage? No way! You ever drive a GM truck with those telescopic things? Now there's some garbage for you!

i like to see the rear of my truck front of my camper and the rear of my camper all without having to jack around with mirror adjustment

u can say what u want but the more u can see out a mirror the safer it is

now its not that i have to have a mirror that i can see everything in at one time but it is nice and a lot safer as far as i am concerned

I, too, love the factory trailer tow mirrors. I find I constantly use the small convex "blind spot" mirror because I can see my rear tires through it.

But Don, those aftermarket mirrors are pretty cool. Who makes them?

Wow... I would hate those mirrors also. A picture is worth a thousand words in this case. I didn't realize they had re-designed the mirrors on the new trucks. Just another reason to hang on to my '03.

Good luck... ... . Safe travels

Steve

Luv em

I love my tow mirrors, especially when towing tandem. Sometimes I have to adjust them when backing a trailer into my shop or camping spot, but they move pretty quick. Even on really windy days they are pretty steady. Bruce

you're nuts... flipped out tow mirrors are awesome

I agree, love the mirrors!!!
