Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) is my converter bad?

I have just put some stage 2 injectors in my truck and a fluidamper. Now when I drive the truck I get a noise like a vacuum leak. the tach bounces all over the place, check engine light flashes, and the transmission shifts up and down all the time. any ideas what to look for?

Not sure about the noise, but the rest of it sounds like the crankshaft position sensor. Did you get it hooked up again after the fluidamper install?

Did you get it positioned the right distance from the crank damper? I found a piece of cereal box carboard is about the right thickness to use as a feeler gauge. Don't use a metal feeler gauge, it can damage the sensor. Once you get your tach ironed out your shifting problem will go away.

Make sure the fluid damper has the notches or markings (non metalic) on it as the old damper. I have read other post where members had trouble with tach and fluid dampers.

If damper matches old one do as Vaughn MacKenzie suggested. I used 4 to 5business cards to set/measure gap.

As GrantP sugested check connector, make sure it is on good. Check to see if any piins are loose/bent.

I hope I didn't hurt that sensor I did us a metal feeler gauge. Do you think it maybe the tps from what I have read on other post it sounds like the same problem.

The TPS will cause shifting problems, but if the tach is not working perfectly the trans will act up no matter what. . . the PCM relies on a tach signal for controlling lockup.
