The Night before Christmas

Like "rolling coal" ??

Not sure if everybody knows, but the Legendary "Snowman", also known as Jerry Reed from "Smokey and the Bandit", passed away yesterday, September 2nd at the young age of 71. If y'all think about it, this was one of the classics that made us love and appreciate the Trucks who keep our country rolling. . So, while everyone is driving around, roll the coals one last time for The Snowman!

Yeah, I heard about Reed on the radio today while driving my work truck (Kenworth with a Cummins ISC). Kinda sad, but I'm hoping a radio station around here will play "Eastbound and Down" to commemorate.

I just wish they would play "That Thing" on XM 10, Fridays at 5PM Central Time... Nothing better... 5 Jerry Reed Songs, and a few others to wind down the week... I have it recorded on DVR, and need to put it into my IPod, but not sure how to transfer it... I took it a little hard, but I think I am going to have a sticker made, honoring the Snowman! Make a few smoke clouds for the man who put the hammer down to bring some good beer to Georgia for Big Enos and Little Enos Burdett, so they could celebrate in style!

Jerry Reed. I still remember going to see the first "Smokey" movie when I was seven years old. There are all kinds of scenes from the movie on Youtube. Enjoy.

Yesterday eve I left by brothers house while he and his wife/kids walked down the street to visit neighbors outside in their driveway.

I was about to drive by slowly and thought it time to blow a little smoke. I hollered out the window "Smoke 'em if you got 'em" and left a pretty good cloud hanging in the center of the road.

I hadn't taken into account the wind direction and soon the cloud of blackness engulfed the ensemble. A few attempted to fan themselves free from the darkness while others made a run for it. My brother simply remained motionless and took it all in like a fireman in the cab of a steam locomotive.

Hey, I forgot to post that my wish came true. The classic rock station I listen to played "Eastbound and Down" on Thursday morning. It's not something they would normally play, so they did it kinda tongue-in-cheek, but at least they did it. Made my day.

I had some hurricane refugee who must have been from Houston, because she was weaving in and out of stop and go traffic, and almost drove up under my truck... I finally got up on side of her, whipped in, got on the other side, and noticed she had her window down... SMARTY on 9, Timing on 3, Rail Pressure on 4, Tq management on 3, and Full Hammer made a heck of a cloud in her car!!! she backed off and drove normal after that... I wish I had a rear mounted camera to take some smoky photos sometimes... Oh well, it was good!!

I hate tailgaiters

Hey Chris,

I have read every page on this thread and enjoyed your smokin-it-up. I have not yet got all the hardware to produce rollin' coal from my common rail, but with the help of SMARTY I have been able to make a few baby clouds once in awhile. I plan on adding TST, bigger injectors, Aurora 3000 turbo, ATS manifold, and 5 inch exhaust. Do you think I'll be able to keep up with the smoke from my buddies 12 valve? I have no problem outrunning him, provided I am ahead to start with and can stay ahead of the cloud. I just want to have the smoke-at-will power. Am I on the right track?

After installing a 4bt in a chevy truck for a friend he has been having a LOT of fun. Said the other day he passed a horse-n-buggy. Clamped the throttle and laid a cloud out. A glance in the mirror and he saw the horse heading in the ditch... avoiding the smoke and effectively bouncing the occupants of the buggy around.

To those of you guys near Bowmansville, blue ball and surrounding areas, if you see a mid 90's green chevy, extended cab long bed that makes a small puff, Put some smoke on him. He is enjoying his lil 4bt too much.

I love this thread also and generally try to smoke responsibly..... but what the H*** is smokin' the Amish for? Innocent horse? Your friend sounds like a jerk to me. Tell him to smoke an illegal or a deranged driver or someone else besides an Amish guy!!!

Anyway,my smokin' days are over due to installing stacks on my truck. It sucks!! I used to enjoy all the smoke clouding when some impatient Bozo would come on me trying to get around.

I'll keep an eye out for him.

Hopefully I can smoke him and run his a-z-z into a ditch. :(

I don't really care for smokin out innocents either. That's why I say he needs someone to do it to him. Mebbe someday he'll learn.

Smoke Story

This happened about 4 or 5 months ago in San Fran/sicko/psycho/cisco... Well trying to get out of the town on 80 east about to get on the Bay Bridge it goes from 3 lanes into one. The right lane is EXIT only and is marked that way for over a mile. People love speeding up and passing everyone in that right lane and then merging in left at the last minute cutting an unsuspecting motorist off, usually at this time triaffic is going about 5-10 MPH stop and go. Well there was this pinko in his 80's cutlass thinking he would go ahead and do this to ME and stuck his right arm out and everything. But I was ready. I didn't leave but inches between me and the guy ahead of me,,, and as much as the pinko tried, he couldn't squeeze in... this is where then he gets behind me with window rolled down , solid cement barricade starts (good smoke deflector) and I start to power brake in 3rd with the pedal to the floor going about 10-15 mph. I lost sight of him and well it made quite a scene in the city of liberals and lovers. Unfortunately the last expression I saw on his face before his vehicle was blacked out was a big smile :)

i got smoked last sunday by a red 3rd gen 2500 while stuck in traffic a couple times, i laughed my a z z off but while on about a 5 mph roll he burped it hard from the left lane and the cloud across the windshield caught my grand ma off guard and made me laugh that much harder :-laf

Yesterday at about 3:00 in the morning I was cruising north on 81. Headed to the scranton area. A speed limit of 65 and a "swift" truck in the left lane doing the high speed of 55 and a bunch of other trucks in the right lane passing him. After I got around I got over in front of him and let him know it was time to get over. Much smoke everywhere. It didn't take long for him to get over. I couldn't help but remember something a friend of mine said. What do "swift" trucks and women's underware have in common? They both get in the way when you're in a hurry.

Was on my way into work this morning on Hwy 70 when a newer Dodge 2500 came up along side. He gave a lunges and I new I was in trouble because the smarty was on fuel saver. We both pulled over to check out each others trucks, I reprogrammed my smarty and we got back on the highway (disclaimer: it was early saturday morning and we had the highway to ourselves, no animals were hurt in the making of this smoke story). Looking at his truck he also had a smarty and a bully dog top off with an HTT turbo. I have 3. 54 gears so I knew he would pull me low, well he could pull me low and high. His turbo was huffing loud when he let off but when he got back on he would start pulling away. From being even and both of us on it his rear bumper was at my hood after about 3-4 seconds grrrrr! haha man the new trucks can really make some power. The only thing I can think of is when I reprogrammed I didnt knock my timing down so I had +4 on the smarty and the comp on 5x5  dont know if that was hurting me or not but the coal wasnt rolling like it usually does, the other guy had a flat bed with a quad on it so I give the man his props... . at least it was another dodge ;)

i crapped all over a poor unsuspecting gm product today when he got behind me as i was pulling out in "2nd" (3rd) from walking speed, sometimes when taking off at idle in 2nd at a low roll the arm will undershoot the plate and i can black out the sun, with the dual exhaust theres no escape as i destroy about 50 feet of road be it on purpose :-laf or accident

apparently we had a bicycle race around here yesterday, and some took it upon themselves to hog up the road... Well, I was stuck behind one little group who was riding 3 wide, and refused to get onto the shoulder... . Not cool, and not smart! so I got it into 3rd gear, and smoke braked them when I got along side them... All you could see was them getting onto their side of the shoulder, and a few fingers in the air. . I do not have a problem with cyclists, but when they ride like that, and make it like you owe them something, hogging the road, it's when I step in to roll the coals!

I was heading down rt 28 in va and saw a ford with 6in stacks and i was in the mood for some fun. I have the stock program on it right now and only had the flux sticks and my mp-8 to use. I caught up to him and he got on 66 west so i figure why not go that way aswell. once the road opened up the game was on. he juped in the laft lane and though he would leave me but looked back to see that I stayed right behind him all the way till i hit my limiter then we ran out of room. we played for about the next 10 miles and every time we got in to it I constantly pulled away from him untill i hit my limiter then after a about 10sec or so he would start pulling me in. at one point so odd trash in my bed decide to pay respects to him and a few things actualy stuck to the front of his truck. I saw he had a bully dog monitor on his A pillar and he did roal some good smoke so I know he wasn't stock. when I got off my exit he got next to me and waved and gave me thumbs up. I guess the stock looking work truck gave him a little more than he thought. The smarty sr pod can't get here soon enough.

I just wish that everyone would think like you and I. Do the bikers pay road taxes when riding they bikes on the road? No. Why should we share the road with them?... . That kinda just made me think about the bikers I smoked out earlier on the way home from work :-laf
