Recently had to have the left front bearing/hub replaced in my 97 dually. I did not detect any problem with steering/handling, but the ABS light kept coming on, then off. Because of circumstances I had to take the truck to a local Dodge shop. Turned out the bearing was loose enough to allow the tone wheel to rub on the ABS sensor. It cost about $1100 since the ABS sensor was ruined. Could have done it myself for about $400.
BTW, Rockauto has quality products for reasonable prices.
Another BTW, an old mechanic told me once that the bearings in single bearing hubs will last 500,000 miles or one week after hitting a curb hard. Well, a week before the bearing failed, I hit a bad pothole.
Wish now I had gotten an EMS conversion kit. It would have been cheaper than the repair, and would last a long time and mileage.
