i want to install one or the other fuel air seperator systems. is one better than the other or easier to install? what kind of power/ mpg increases have you noticed with yours.

Thanks

I have a fuel preporator, before fass and air dog, don't know about the power and mpg increases (was doing other things also) but it made my motor a lot quieter took a lot of the clatter out of it, and when you change your fuel filter you don't have to fill it up frist.

I've had the Airdog in for a couple of years now. Still showing 17psi at WOT. No problems whatsoever. I did the install myself and found it easy and the mounting hardware well engineered and very sturdy.

I installed the HPFP Fass 95 in my truck my self. Was not a problem to install. Did it about 3 years ago, still holds around 15 PSI at idle & 13 PSI at WOT & no problems with it (knock on wood).

I have the AD 100 with more filters/water sep than came with it for better filtration. I would go with just a pump Raptor or what ever the Fass is and go with my own filter set up. It would be a lot less hassel and better filtration BTJMO

I have a Airdog II 165gph pump. The pump and parts are quality parts, the instructions were fairly eazy and clear. My pump has the adjustable fuel pressure regulater so mine is set to 20psi. With my Smarty set on #9 i think it smokes alittle less the motor feels like it keeps pullling strong all the way through acceleration before I was losing fuel pressure. My MPGs might have improved some but I dont believe you going to see the 10% increase both companies claim more like the same or . 25-. 50 gain. Buy the pump and filters to save your injectors and injection pump because if you mostly want to increase in MPGs I think you might be disappointed. Also the install is pretty much a all day affair.

sounds like i cant go wrong either wayOo.

when I first read this I thought it said you can go either way and I was frighten very frighten. Just kidding :-laf I think you would be go to go with the set up with filters AD 100,150 or what ever the FASS system is. If it were me I would do the pump separate from the filters weather it be AD or FASS and get the best filter/water sep.

I disagree with that statement completely.

One dealing with FASS warranty people and you'll run to AirDog.

After having way to many issues with the 180GPH FASS on my 12v(3 motor failures in less than 4 years)I was glad to see that fuel system leave when I sold my 12v. the ONLY reason it remained on the truck while I owned it was due to their 7 yr warranty as I had plenty left.

Their warranty is a PIA also when you need something done for your system. Drop the pump, remove the filters and ship it back to them AT YOUR COST. Then when the pump is returned its also shipped to you AT YOUR COST for a failure that had nothing to do with you or your install. The 3 failures I had with mine were ALL pump design related, period. The 1st one I removed the entire assembly and waited for the 2 weeks while they had my pump while they,FASS,decided if it was my fault or theirs. The last 2 failures I removed the pump, called FASS,paid their OUTRAGEOUS fee to ship a new motor out, then sent the old one back and waited for weeks(months the first time I did it this way)for them to refund my money.

Upon buying my new to me 05 CR it was found it had a FASS on it. The first thing I did after buying the truck was remove the FASS and sell it as I will not have that friggin problem again. The ADII has been on my truck ever since and I am very happy with it.

Wow I thought that FASS was as good or better than AD you see FASS allot in mag. that feature Diesel trucks that pull/drag/ but I guess they are a sponsor and give them what they need

I have a FASS 150 on my '02 3500 for 7 trouble-free years. I installed one on my wife's '03 2500 and I'm about to install one on my '09 4500. I'm pleased with them. I buy the replacement filters at Genos.

I can't speak ill of Airdog, so can't comment. I like that FASS support the TDR events. I won a FASS 150 in 2006 at May Madness and just won one for my 2009 4500 at 2011 May Madness. Don't know if Air Dog support TDR, but haven't heard of it. And the FASS has lifetime guarantee.

So, as you might guess I recommend FASS.

I have had a FASS 150 on my truck for about 6 years now. Fuel pressure is 21 - 23. I have better power and I get about 1. 5 mpg better fuel economy.

It has been proven on a dyno back to back that these fuel systems net you nothing in added power. That argument was even on here many moons ago and was done at one of our dyno shows. Back then FASS had lofty claims of power gained only to be proven wrong.

I have been treated well by FASS and appreciate their generous support at May Madness.

Now why doesn't this post surprise me at all.

Cheers, Wiredawg

Yep,I will agree you have ran the crap out of your FASS unit on your 3500 for years with smooth operation. Glad you kept the truck Ron,which now I would have kept my old 12v also as I am still sick about selling it.

KBurgoyne...

I have looked over the comparison thread on DB that was linked here and its a good way for you to decide. One thing that bothers me is no mention about the support after the purchase but thats for you to decide. Both units will do the job you want most of the difference is in the install and location of the pump after the install. Your wallet and your choice, hope you find what you want... ... ... Andy

Is your truck a 12 or a 24 valve?

The reason I'm asking is I notice your thread is posted in the "94-98 12 valve" forum and from what I understand the mechanical pumps on these engines (94-98 12 V. ) are quite adequate until you exceed moderate power upgrades.

IMO, you need to fill out your signature (Re: Your truck, year and mods?) because I also noticed most of the responders to your post are 2nd gen. 24 valve guys, who for the most part have had a lot of problems with the stock fuel system and have taken measures to correct them.

The two fuel systems on these particular engines types really are "Apples & Oranges" and understandably not all people know this. I know I didn't until I joined TDR.
