Hi, I am having a problem with the temp. guage on my '95. It will jump all over the place once I get running. I searched through some old threads, and didn't come up with anything. I am trying to figure out what I need to replace to fix this problem. Anybody else experience this? Thanks.

My guess is the sending unit. Might check the connection. It is hidden toward the rear of the head under the intake.

Temp. guage

Thanks for the replies. I am beginning to lean towards faulty sensor. I tried to research temp sensor and all I can come up with is trans sensors. Does anybody know where I can find a temp sensor. Thanks.

The sensor is on the driver side at the very back of the head. As Mr. Mule said, if the gauge swings from @160 to 190 and then drops back to 160 quickly that's normal. Don't sweat it.

If it's doing something else, I would try putting a wrench on it and loosen it up @ 1/4 turn then tighten it back up. I did this with mine and it started working properly again. I guess it builds up some corrosion between the sensor and the block and moving it breaks it loose and lets it ground again.

Thanks for posting that up. I had already found it but my arms were too short to reach back there. I will have a friend with spagetti arms help me. I also bought a temp guage for inside the cab as back-up. Now, just figuring out where the probe goes for that one. Thanks for the replies.

I find that it's not necessarily the length of my arms as much as the size of my belly. The combination makes for problems more often than I care to admit... ... ... ...

I'm working on mine at the moment lol!!!

Don't feel too bad because the 2nd gens are a pain to work on period!!

My '92 is WAY easier than the '01 or the '09 that I have and the 'gut' gets in the way sometimes for us 'skinny folks' from time to time #@$%!#@$%!
