I was wondering what people using this on their 4th gen trucks think about this mod. I bought it but haven't installed it yet. I have a few questions. .

1) Does the use of the provided pins make for a tight fit like when using the screws or are things sloppy?

2) Do you leave the 2 screws to the immediate right and left of the hood latch out after the install of the kit? They would be the ones under the removable cowling. If so is the grill loose/ sloppy fitting in this area due to them being out?

3) Seems like with the bottom clips removed the bottom of the grill would not fit too tight? I imagine it is ok to leave them in for a snugger fit. .

Thanks for any replies. .

I have one on my truck. I only used the supplied pins at the end of the black cover between the grill and radiator. I left the two exposed screws on each side that secure the grill itself. I removed the two lower clips. I too felt that replacing the two outer screws would leave the grill a little loose. Leaving the two screws it is fine.

What did you do with the two inner screws (the ones under the cover)? Did you leave them out? Does the bottom of the grill stay secured with the clips removed? Except for popping out those plastic keepers and making sure you don't mess them up those four screws can be taken out pretty fast. I just feel with all the screws in there the Grill is not going to move around and everything is tight. The kit seems like a good idea but is a little sloppy in my opinion...

I left the two under the cover out, that's the only way the kit functions, and reattached the cover back to the grill. Yes the bottom still stays secured.

I installed this per the instructions and the fit is great. If you don't use the entire kit there's no point to having it. Yes you can move the grill slightly now with the 4 factory fasteners (2 screws, 2 clips) taken out but it's still very secure. This would be easily reversible if you didn't like the fit and you can salvage the bottom clips if you take them off carefully. The only part you don't need to do is drill/screw the cables to the truck, this just prevents losing the pins when you pull the grill. I can see this will be great for keeping things clean behind the grill and it will also make installing the factory winter front easier.

I agree with Patty & Don. Installed mine last summer per instructions. fits great and no problems. Good luck.

Finally got around to completely installing my kit. I had the Geno's condenser guard and needed to clean off the window screening I installed behind it, it was full of bugs and hay chaff from following a semi which was hauling big hay bales down the road. I agree with the above statements, didn't make much sense not installing the whole kit. It seems to be pretty secure and makes things much easier. I did not use the self tapping screws that hold the cables for the pins. Instead I drilled out the holes to the bracket that the cables are attached to and fastened them to the existing bolts that are close by that hold the fender in place. Works great...
