Our new truck has Keyless Enter 'n Go where the doors will unlock when a handle is grabbed if a keyless fob is within 5 feet of the door (typically in a purse or pocket). I didn't think I'd care for it, but it's turned out to be one of my favorite features. With push button engine start, there's almost never a need to remove the keyless fob from your pocket.

So today I start washing the truck with the keyless fob in my pocket as usual. As I'm walking around rinsing off the truck with a brass garden hose nozzle and I notice the truck lights are flashing, the courtesy lamps under the side mirrors are on, and the cargo lamp is on. Strange I thought and I just kept washing the truck with an RV brush. As soon as I hit the side of the truck with the rinse water again, the lights start flashing again. It was then I connected the dots and figured out what was going on...

Somehow the stream of water between my hands and the truck was enough for the Keyless Enter 'n Go system to think I was grabbing the truck's door handle. I took the keyless fob out of my pocket and tossed it in a lawn chair about 15 feet away and the problem immediately disappeared.

Note to self: Take the keyless fob out of pocket before washing the truck!

It is actually the membrane on the inside of the door handle. It changes resistance as your hand touches it. The water on the handle simulates your hand and it thinks you are trying to open the door. I'm surprised you are the first to mention it.

Been happening forever, I first noticed it on my '03 Mercedes, every Audi and Mercedes since then has done it. Only they use sensors for locking as well, don't have the actual push button, so it's constantly locking and unlocking when washing it. Simple solution as you said, move the key away.

My wife's Jetta TDI does the same thing with her key less system. Except it will lock the doors even states this in the owners manual when washing the car.

The Chrysler products should never lock, only unlock, because to lock requires pushing the button on the outside of the handle.
