OK I gotta ask, how does one end up with a driver side exit exhaust?

I bought it that way. Purchased from a kid who inherited from his grandpa, who bought it new. Had a shop built y pipe that split right after the cab and then duals out the back. Pretty poor fab job. Sounded good, but was a pain to keep hangers on it because it wasn't welded straight. Finally broke down this summer and replaced it with a full 5" turbo back straight pipe, couldn't stand the rattling anymore and droop anymore!

This truck came with a lot of goofy stuff like that. Kid only drove it for 6 months or so and then sold it, but must have bought radio shack out of every light and switch he could. Was driving it home when I first got it, hit a random switch under the dash, and a bright blue flash came out from under both seats, about crapped my self thinking it was on fire! He had wired blue strobes under the front seats, assume to "set the mood"! Was always going to call him and ask if it worked, but never did LOL!

He put atf in the fuel and when it hit the injectors the result was so catastrophic the exhaust switched sides

Ok that is a much better story!!! haha.

That is about 3/4 cord of red oak with a little green black walnut mixed in, with that in there, you can about push snow with the windshield if need be! I like it!

Volsfan,

They have been good to me so far, put them on in 2008 with approx 190 or 200k miles. Truck has 248k on it now. Just had them apart this summer to do a brake job and went through and repacked them. Somehow had a caliper bolt that had broke and was rubbing on the rotor, not sure if the hub kit caused it or the installer, but we do know now that it uses Early 90's ford front Rotors, fyi!!. Only complaint/suggestion I would have, I purchased their Extreme Duty unit at the time, the one with the bigger knuckles and shafts. Would probably just buy their Std/Heavy Duty if I was to do it over again. There is very little clearance for greasing my front knuckles, and have quite sever knuckle "wrap" (jerking) when steering with the hubs locked. Its not a deal breaker, just have to pay more attention when in Mid or higher speed 4wd use. On the plow its fine, but it will about jerk the wheel out of your hand at full turn.

Really love the free spin hub idea. 2wd low, simple design, plus it has a little cool factor, something different than everyone else.

I bet it is nice to keep clean been thinking about converting my truck to rubber .

I thought about doing that too to keep the mud off my carpets and salt and snow in the winter. Salt is the big problem because it soaks through the carpet and lays on the floor boards and that's bad ju ju. I ended up buying the 3 piece floor mats that overlap each other and they do quite well. Keeps the carpet dry and clean. I thought about buying the one piece liners but went with the 3 piece so I could remove the driver and passenger side to hose them out occasionally. The center piece goes over the 4wheel drive lever and shift lever on standard trucks and the plastic trim piece has to be removed which makes it a PITA. My center piece doesn't get that dirty anyway so its easier to just leave it in place and wipe it off if I have to. I also left my smaller old rubber mats over top so I can easily pull them out to get rid of the snow or mud.
I also bought the mats for the back and keep the seats up so I can throw stuff in the back without worrying about getting anything dirty or wet.

I've had the husky liners and they did seem to work pretty good Ive got to do something my floor is always wet and muddy since its a farm truck I want to do the whole rubber floor but I'm afraid it might not be as quiet as it is now I've had trucks you couldn't hear yourself think and I don't need all that noise I've outgrown that. took the straight stack off the tractor and I leave the muffler on my trucks .

Bought my '98 12 valve new in Oct 1997. Used it to tow a fifth wheel until I sold the fifth wheel in 2001. Used the truck a DD until May 2010. Truck still looks and performs great. I drive it about a week every month and use it to tow my car trailer. Only has 148K miles on it.

"odieub" has a van aaken from an '01 for sale. He's in Leitchfield, KY. His number is 27O-23O-3317. His name is Brett and I'll vouch for his integrity. He parts out Dodge diesels as a side job.

thanks bro
i am gonna call him.
(starts counting pennies in piggybank)

99 2500 Quadcab 4x4, about 93K on it.
It has it's good side, and it has it's bad side.
the bad side, driver's side, nice large 1/2 moon rust spot bottom/center of the driver's door.
All doors showing some paint bubbling along lower edge.

Last hurricane, day before while prep'ing for it, went to get diesel, and some idiot broad thought I was cutting the gas line as I made my way to the diesel pump, and hit the driver side , lower panel of the bed infront of the rear wheel.

Good side, looks great, from 5ft away.

Daily driver , for around town and hauling the things we need for projects around the house / yard.
It tows my bulk material trailer, which was made from the back half of a 47 ford p/u.
I don't put the rock / fill / wood chips in the bed of my Dodge.

Back in 99, I bought the Dodge Ram as my daily driver and for towing the family camper out of state and onto our outer beaches.
But soon after , I had a company vehicle.
The Dodge became my occasional work vehicle when I had to pack up a ton of stuff for work.

With it's age, I don't trust if for the long hauls for work, wont take it off the Island.

The last few years, the output shaft of the steering box leaking, but just can't bring myself to put the monies into a new box from Geno's.. which would need a new shaft and hosed and a day under the hood.

Other than that...
1 set of starter contacts.
3 lift pumps.
1 injector pump.
1 transmission.
1 set of front wheel bearings.
1 set of rotors.
1 set of front brake pads a year (+ all the hardware).
4 or 5 sets of front calibers.
1 rear brake job.
3 hanger bearings.
3 TC rear output seals.
2 alternators.

More recently, couple of hard lines going to the rear brakes, rusted out, both times lost the brakes on the Wendy's driver thru line.
Lines rusted through.

I'm down to 6 month oil changes.
Warm weather , 15w-40.
Cold weather 5w-40 synthetic.

Bought my 98.5 in '07 with 8500 miles on it. Did the first oil change on it, was literally rolled into a barn and parked when the original driver lost his license. Just put a new clutch in it at 148,000miles, and drives like a champ. Use it for work, pleasure and towing a fifth wheel trailer with sailboat behind that. Haven't overloaded it yet, although I have tried many times.

I used mine as a daily driver until 2012, they put me in a different parking space at work and it was $%!! trying to get the dually into the space. I guess they think everyone should drive a Prius. Anyway I got a Ridgeline for daily driving duty, and reserve the Dodge for the heavy duty hauling. I also used it with my truck camper, but I sold the Bigfoot a few months ago. I plan to keep it indefinitely as I absolutely love the old hulk, but jeeze it is scandalous how the truck has deteriorated in the last 5 years. The plastics in the dash etc just have not held up well at all, whoever designed the brackets and attachment points should be taken out behind the barn and horsewhipped. Every trip I wonder if the dash is just going to collapse into a pile of plastic shards, it squeaks and rattles and cracks and groans like a skeleton in a washing machine.

But it's still my favorite truck, I guess there is something wrong with me :-laf :-laf

My 02 ext-cab, 5-spd, 2-wheel drive dually just coming up on 100k miles, stock setup with only a few upgrades to normal wear parts. (bilstein shocks, intercooler boots, recently painted).
It is used mostly to pull a 4-horse living quarter trailer (normally around 12k pounds). This truck will definitely pull more than I need,

i got it from him
he is a nice guy
and my truck is right back where i like it
i missed the better mpg and WAY better acceleration.
that van aaken added 2.4mpg

I'm about to sell my '01 dually with 93k miles. One of the few with a manual transmission. Time to step up to a '15... hopefully I won't regret it like some of you have. It's just hard to resist selling it due to the great resale value of these.
