My tire guy sent me some info that didn't copy right, the numbers that need to be addressed are the load rating a 2601 & 2910

Rim width he said wouldn't be a problem, there is a difference in diameter & width but not that significant of a difference.

We will mount a tire of the 305/45R22 size on a rim and make sure of clearances, He still stands by his first statement that its not the load rating of the tire that's the problem, its the Brand of tire, coming from a man that deals with tires EVERYDAY I have to think that he sees a little more than the rest of us do. Even he said GY tires are prone to flats. We are NEVER going to tow anything with this, and even thou the cars weight makes it fall into the BOAT classification and the motor is a pretty large anchor for the BOAT :-laf the 2601 load rating is more than enough.

Going into town today and have this taken care of, I'm going to also take the Dodge with a couple of donkeys in a trailer and go with my Son when done, it seems as if a Cat (4 leg kind) took a cow and with the help of some Coyotes are eating high on the cow at the expense of the business. We are going to stay out for a few days and make sure that they are made to understand that THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!

Sorry if this got under any ones skin (only one statement did on me) it was not meant to be that way it was just me needing some of the valuable info that MOST times is given with a sense of humor tossed in to have a few giggles, not to slander ones character.

Your tire guy is recommending you go wider? That's an extra 3" of contact on the road when you factor all 4 tires in. Thats a whole lot of tire considering the already wide OEM size on a vehicle that potentially sees snowy and icy roads, but then again I'm no expert :D

Shootin them Wiley coyotes used to be a favorite past time of mine and my brother when I lived out west. Sooo much better then shooting at stationary targets Oo.

Don't forget that P tires used in a SUV/LT application have to drop the rating to 91% of sidewall rating. A 2601 rated tire is only good for 2366, but still adequate for the application.

From what I found the OEM wheels are 22x9.5's, which makes them just wide enough for a 285. I am not sure I would put a 305 on a 9.5" wheel with such a low profile, 9.5" is the minimum wheel size but that's still a pretty narrow wheel for a 305.

The higher load rating on the 305 doesn't mean it's built and stronger. Both tires are P/XL rated, but the 305 holds a larger volume of air so it can hold more weight.

Tire guy said IF I wanted a higher rated tire this COULD be a possibility, he's not recommending it, its still his belief that its not the load rating that's in question it's the brand. We will see what transpires when we get there.

Coyotes are a blast to cap, Son wants and needs to learn a few skills, He & I afield is the gift.

BIG, I'm by no means an expert... I learn every day... but I am a tire dealer, and see this kind of crap all the time. I mostly deal with oversize light truck, agricultural, and heavy truck tires.... Goodyears are not used in anything I build, with the exception of Titan Tires, who makes certain tractor traction tires in sizes no one else will. Unfortunately, I think as a large company, they are doing the bare minimum, with the profit margin the most important goal. Most people just replace their factory tires with what the dealer recommends, which is how they sell their crap. Not to mention, the manufacturer installs them, so they're going to sell them regardless.... But here we go with the great tire debate.... But when it comes to the paint on my fenders, Goodyear can take a short leap of a long cliff!!

Another thing to remember on towing capacity.... Tongue/hitch/bumper weight is a wopping 500lbs.... I make over half that when I step into the vehicle myself.... Ewwww, I'm so impressed!!!

BIG!!! Prairie poodle popping is a favorite past time of a lot of folk. Especially those of us who have steak on the hoof! Never got very good at trapping them, though....

Take that kitty and stretch his hide on some cedar poles!! I've spent many a moon filled early morn trying to track those boogers down with a pair of dogs..... Love it!!

Gail had the new tires put on the Caddy today, http://www.1010tires.com/Tires/Pirelli/Scorpion+Verde+All+Season+Plus/2448700

Surprisingly load limits were the same. Funny how much of a difference could be felt between the two tire materials. The Goodyear was noticeably softer than many of the other brands. The tire store owner asked does that make a difference? he didn't know but he sure repairs lots of Goodyear flats. They took the car to a scale and had it Gross & axle weighed Gross was 6,090lbs with a full tank of fuel and Gail's emergency kit that is always left in the car, I cant remember what the axle weight were. They did say that the Pirelli tires were All Season tires which I don't think matters much to Gail, its not like he's knowingly going to take the car if its snowing. He most times takes his Taco if its just the two of us anyway.

Gail seemed to think that it was a little bit better in turns with the new tires, that could all be wishful thinking. He drives it more than I do so I will take his word for it. When I left him at our Sons house and drove it home it didn't feel any different in the ride of the car.

Poodle Popping :-laf is something that has to be done sadly enough. We believe in live & let live until they start eating Profit that was first killed by a Big Sylvester Cat. Gail & Nate loaded up a pack mule and rode out for a few days cold camping lucky for them the day time temps are around 70* & nights are 30* so not to bad.

Big/Penny... I don't kill to prove a point, but being proactive on the local predator population, as well as hogs, will pay off in the long run. When you find that new heifer guarding half a corpse, it's too late to do anything about it to prevent it, you can only react to it......

We are of the same thinking, Gail does predator hunt to keep them in check. They don't go to waste we use the pelts, the main reason for hunting is to keep their population in check. Gail has his animals to watch out for. His, Pig, Chickens, & our beef are all food, in the case of my Father & Son its about profit. This is why Gail went out with our Son at his place, to show him how its done we haven't had much of a problem because of how Gail stays on top of things here.

We received a Cell message that said 3 coyotes wont be attending dinner anymore that was near midnight so maybe more by now. Knowing Gail he wants the Cat ;)

Have to run, Gail goes out to play and I have his & my chores that still need to be done.

For you that care!

I had a call from the Dealer yesterday, Gail had called and asked about the Goodyear tires that were on the car. And that some people on a website were appalled that Cadillac would put them on the Flagship model of the Escalade. The Dealership asked for some information on our car.

They want us to bring back the car to the Dealership for an adjustment. I told them that Gail is not in town and would be back in a day or so. I also told them that we had to replace the tires because of the continual problems with flats and not trusting the product that Cadillac choose to install on a $86K & change vehicle and that we are VERY discouraged with this.

We were sent this Youtube video it goes into some detail about this car but really not all that needs to be shown if someone is interested in buying one. The commentator keeps talking about the price being a $90 dollar car. Gail must be a smooth talker then, ours is very much the same as the car shown. Our price was out the door with a few other options that are not on this video at least its not on the system display.

They sent you a reminder of how much it's worth.... That's funny. Like you don't remember writing the check. The old "dodge the question" tactic. The problem is they're more concerned with their bottom dollar than they are with your safety. People may argue otherwise, but only under threat of lawsuit and loss of profit do they issue recalls on known problems. THey don't worry about fixing the problem, or continually trying to make a better product. They want to throw some electronics conveniences between some soft fitting seats that blow air up your arse cheeks, and convince you it's a better product. More comfortable, yes. Better, no. I'm happy you got something you're proud of. That's a good thing. If you like it, that's really important to me. But I see how overpriced all these products are becoming. It's redonkeylous.

My negativity is showing this morning. Sorry. I really am happy you like the vehicle.... well, happy for you to have something to be proud of. But it blows my mind that a light duty vehicle costs that much. And then they put the cheapest made tires on the face of the planet on it. Why? Obviously they know there is a problem if they automatically want to adjust the price..... I've bought an '05 Jeep Cherokee and two '11 Durangos, and all came with the Goodyears on them. The Cherokee in '05, and my wife's Durango, I sold the tires back to the dealer the day I bought them. One, the one my mother drives, had the tires left on it (on her wishes). That set almost made 24k before a tread separation appeared with a minor vibration. Then, with half the tread, I took it back to the dealer, who "Pro-rated" the tire, basically charging her the wholesale cost of the tire to replace it. The next Monday she went to town and noticed a vibration again, wanting me to look at the new tire installed. It was the the other front tire seperating. Again, back to the dealer, who pro-rated it. The third made it almost three months before it did the same. This time, all four were replaced with Toyo HT's(in MY shop, on my dime), the same tire I've had on my wife's Durango for two sets, totaling almost 75k miles, with one flat from a bolt (don't ask where it came from.... :( ) The Cherokee got 4 sets of Toyo's, with one set of Yokohoma's in the mix(which were disappointing).

It's much like the saga of Firestone, albeit without the violent explosions. A change in cord wrapping design and rubber injection molding allows the tires to bleed air under the tread out the sidewall, going flat before they explosively separate. Profits before quality. Instead of spending another $10 a tire in cord and quality materials, they change the design to prevent explosion, letting the tire go flat and be unrepairable...... That's sneaky smart....

Just back from a VERY!! Successful in two ways hunting trip, the first way was that there are 13 less Coyotes & 1 less Tom Cat that are roaming the property looking for a hand out of food, We still have lots more to do. Son has found the advantage of Night Vision and Semiautomatic Weapons to be " PRICELESS "

The Second part of this Successful hunting trip, is time spent afield between Father & Son. What a gift we both have in that we live in such close proximity to such a hunting area, for him a short ride out his back door for me an hour drive to his place. He & I spent lots of time learning what makes for a successful hunt weapon wise. He had never really been all that interested in reducing the Yote population but now with the loss of livestock taking money from his family, well lets just say its been an eye opening event for the both of us. He was amazed that the Old Man is just a tad brighter than a 25 watt bulb, and the Old Man was happy to hear that he thought so and thanked him for spending time as we did.

The Video above was sent to us via a friend, not the Caddy dealer. They have been calling several times a day trying to get me to bring the car back for a tire adjustment, I would call it a Problem For Them. I have yet to get back with them, I got in last night late and was pretty used up from having fun.

We had looked at the Chevy, GMC & even Ford offerings on this style car before we made the choice to go with Cadillac, We have NEVER!! owned a care of this Quality before and had the money, we both thought that " We Owe it to Ourselves " to live a little.

The differences in the car's are Remarkable. Chevy is what I would call the working mans car, the GMC while basically the same mechanics of the Chevy has a better quality interior, then when you get to the Caddy from the walk up to the car its quality is notably different than the others. Upon opening the door the Real Leather & wood, not simulated leather and plastic wood is beyond comparison. Yes I'm thinking that the Chevy & the GMC would work just as well in the real use of them, but as far as driving and liking what your driving the Caddy is BEYOND compare. I know that most don't drive the hours behind the wheel like I do, so it wouldn't matter to them that driving from MT to Las Vegas getting out like you just went to the corner store wouldn't matter. But to someone that LIKES to drive for hours on end this is Pure Enjoyment with a capital " E " . I think that the fuel mileage is pretty good with this, We get about 18 to 19 MPG but we aren't all that concerned with that. If we had to worry about feeding such a Beast we surely wouldn't have bought this car.

I don't think for a second that the Dealer is going to reimburse me for my purchase of the new tires, I have had this kind of problem with some work done on my Dodge that they more or less said Tuff XXXX, things change when Lawyers get involved, and while still not being reimbursed for what was done to my Dodge they made amends in parts and accessories. Before we took it to Lawyers. I feel that's what is going to happen in this case, I really don't want to EVER pay for any service that THEY may do EVER AGAIN as long as I own the car, if not? well we can always see what the other way can bring about.

BIG,

I don't think there's that much difference in the Caddy to the GMC.... especially when you peel away the plastic. The sheet metal and frames are the same. Almost identical, actually. Regardless, if you're happy with it, then that's what's important!!

I did NOT, by all means, suggest you should get a lawyer involved... they're the only ones who actually come out ahead in those deals..... I was only saying the manufacturer just doesn't care until they are forced to. It's a sad fact of corporate, board ruled, detached owner, business being done. They don't see the everyday affects of their actions and decisions.... They only care about the bonus check at the end of the month.....

Glad to hear your hunting trip was a success in more than one way!! I've been fortunate to see the wisdom in my Dad's decisions over the years..... I've seldom disagreed with him in management decisions. But I see how youth tends to cloud the vision of younger men. Their motives are often smaller minded than that of their elders.... I get into that pretty frequently around here with my hired hands..... I'm mentoring them more than I'm working them.... They're learning to weld, build fence, work on trucks/cars, how to farm, and where it is their food actually comes from, and the many processes involved with making it happen, from standing in the pasture/field to the market shelf.

But as I've found out, wisdom comes from experience.... experience comes from making bad decisions.....

The Lawyers are more of a threat to the Dealership, that most times is enough to make them understand that there are folks that will take it that far. The Lawyers don't really cost me anything other than some time that they were going to get anyway. (hope they don't read this :-laf ) they are two guys that go hunting with us every year, last year I was awarded the honor of guiding one of them on a Goat hunt. ( its like hitting the hunting lotto) I was beat up and still have a few spots that are tender to the touch but they are some good memories. If I get something from this So much the better, if not (which may be the case) life is to short to cry about it, its over and done with.

As far as the GMC vs the Caddy, I think that the drive trains are a little different, I'm not sure but I don't think the GMC has the 6.2 motor of the Caddy. One thing that I know is different is the quality of the " I think you called it the plastic and ? " I do think that they are built on the same frame, but the Caddy can change the ride from a touring to more firm sporty, the rear is load adjustable, there are a host of other NICE BUT NOT NESSARY things that are fun to have on my very first and last Luxury Auto. Being tall the interior space is some what different, there is more room and the feel of more room in the caddy. The seats of the Caddy are some of the best seats that I have ever sat my fat xxx on, air conditioned or heated.

All in All your probably right about not much of a change to warrant spending the difference. All I know is that when I drive this Cadillac Escalade EVS It feels REALLY GOOD!! and the Wife is just as happy about it also. This coming Fall We " Penny, Her Sister Louise & I " are going to take a ride to Washington DC and see some of the Monuments & a Memorial Wall that I should have seen sooner than this but didn't, I know I can spend a week in the Space & air Museum alone. Neither one of the Girls have ever seen the New England States in the Fall, I have and want to see this Spectacular sight again. along with the Coast of Maine and the beauty of Vermont & Maine Back roads in full fall color driving in this car will be a Fantastic way to travel over priced and all :-laf

The hunting trip was the best thing of all. My FIL got tickled when I got the cat that took a meal and some of the coyotes that were going to be a problem sooner than later, Being into cattle and ranching im sure you can understand that without going any further into it.

Going with my Son and spending time doing something that he wants to learn and asked ME to show him is one of the most satisfying things a Father Son can do. I will remember this hunt for all time, and suggest to all Fathers to find something like this to do with your children and DO IT!! Now we are looking at building a couple of Black rifles to expand on the experience with him even more. I knew when he went to school for Fireman/ Paramedic that I was going to be left out of that part of his life. It takes WAY MORE balls and brains that I have to do that. But when he made the jump to cattle and some of the things that needed to be done, I had a chance to share this with him. Then the hunting part of our lives especially the mule packing & outdoor skills that he didn't really have, and the chance for me to show him something that I may not be the best at but I can hold my own around these parts with anybody and there are some pretty fair packer/hunters up here, well it was a gift to be the one to help him learn ANYTHING.\

BIG

PS after posting this I went a took a look at the GMC they do in fact have the 6.2 motor.

I ASSUME that you will let me know if you are coming to Maine. If you don't I will tell the Maine DOT to block the bridge between Kittery and Portsmouth....You won't be all that hard to spot.....

I would really love to see you navigate the DC beltway...you will be swearing like a champion driving on that debacle of engineering..

I think that sounds like a great trip and hope that you do it. Seriously if Maine is in your plans let me know. You should also consider going to Loring if you have time to see it as it is now.

Mike.

I had planned on it Mike, I wouldn't drive that far and NOT SEE MAINES MAIN MAN!! on the TDR. I wont drive in DC we have been looking at outside and take a bus or some public transportation into town. We have a Guy that I worked on his airplanes in the military living up here now, his Daughters live in Alexandria VA they said their doors are open and that DC isn't that far from them, 10 miles away. Tom said its far enough that you wont get caught up in the BS that your talking about.

We have gave thought to driving up threw Vermont and cutting over to Maine's Spectacular Shore line. The Girls have seen my Pictures of all the little sea shore villages (I guess you folks call them Hamlets) and they are on the list of have to see's as was Loring or what's left of it, was on mine. We would like to see Prince Edward Island I have, and had a really good time with some of the locals up there many years ago. The Shore line again in my photos are what the Girls are after.

To get home was thinking of crossing over to head down threw Quebec, Montreal, and out threw to MI and head home that way. Lots of possibilities still in the planning stage.

You take outstanding pictures and will get some good stuff while here.

The "real Maine" coastline starts above Bar Harbor, everything below is pretty but touristy. Above that is where the working folk are, some perform 3 to 4 different jobs in a year just to scrape by. They may dig worms and clams, work in a processing plant doing lobster meat or blueberries, rake blueberries, work on a fishing boat, logging in the winter, etc..
It is amazing what some of them go through.

We are in Awe of your States Coastline, Sort of like Northern Calif, Gail says " No Way " Maine's coastline and ocean is some of the most rugged & the ocean is some of the roughest ocean in the world " He assured us that comment will start a fight " He was obviously into the Lighthouses when he was there, Many, Many pictures of them, that and the Fall leaves turning colors. He has a group of pictures that he had taken, that is a back road from the Air Force Base he was at to Caribou Me. the Colors of the trees that had grown over the road and made a tunnel were gorgeous with the morning and evening sun shining through the trees. Looking forward to the Lobster!! he likes the Chowder.

You can only go out and come back at low tide which is fine if you are paying attention. That's what the steel ladders are for that you see them fixing in some of the pictures.
Every once in a while some dumbass flatlander will pay no attention whatsoever to the signs and get stuck out there for a full tide.
You do not want to attempt to wade back if the tide is coming in unless you want to drown. The tides are high and powerful.
