If you read the details, the buy back price is the sales price less depreciation. It's not a full refund program and FCA is not sending the recalled trucks to the scrappers. FCA has the option of repairing the recalled trucks and re-selling them. It may end up as a good for FCA since there will be trade-ins of recalled trucks for new trucks and will make available more used late model trucks for sale after they are repaired.

^^^ Bingo! That is it precisely. Doubt they take a death nail hit on this deal, besides there is no way I can even get close to a new truck anywhere close to the original price paid on my 2009, even the 1500 ECO diesel is way over cost from what I paid.. they won't take a huge hit on this, in fact it may well end up as profit from the trade ins and the new buys it creates.

I doubt that FCA will get hurt at all on this financially, they should have no trouble with it, given the US govt made the rules they have to abide by.........

I guess that I will keep my truck as it might become a collector vehicle; since some of the 4X4's could be bought back. My truck which is an 2008 but built in Sept 07 and sold new in Nov 07 to me; has the older style steering linkage on this truck. Similar to the non-recalled years of trucks built. I went in for the inspection and the dealer said my truck did not meet the criteria for the recall on the steering linkage.

A couple of months later the RH passenger side tie rod joint failed; going over a set of railroad tracks at a slow speed. I did send a letter to both FCA corporation and the NHTSA about the failure and my concerned over this failure. Thank-you very much and there is the door attitude from FCA was the response. So I do not think I will see anything from FCA about this recall on the truck now. The steering linkage was rebuilt using all MOOG grease able components, I had 81K miles on the original steering components when this failure occurred.

I am now waiting on the driver side Air bag recall fix. I have the recall notice telling me to wait since they do not have the parts to fix my truck and a notice will be sent when they are available.

Here in So cal we are doing at least 4-5 everyday at a relatively small shop

The truth is it's anyone guess the news says one thing my dealer says another. In reality how many trucks have failed? come on guys we have a very large membership here, How many of us have had an issue? When the first recall notice came out I had just up dated my o5 and my friend's 04 with the 08 update. We were told our trucks were not effected by the recall but I bought and installed the new improved parts just to be sure. Guess what the parts in the up date kits were part of the bad ones and I was ahead of the problem. DAlmer (at the time) sent me my money back for the replacement parts that i bought and installed. By the way those both kits now have over 150,000 miles on them and have worked flawlessly. Long out lasting the original parts. Chances are if you read here you've had your truck checked and fixed. If you didn't your the fool and in my opinion don't deserve to get your truck bought back. I've got over 40K on my 2013 and it's been inspected for the steering issues spelled out in the recall. Not all the parts are bad. So don't panic!!! If in doubt bring your truck in.

It would be a very good time for everyone with dead pedal issues to file a complaint with www.Safercar.gov if the have not already done it. Strike while the iron is hot. I do not want a future 2015 or 2016 with this problem. Snoking

Bill Stockard, I'm actually happy with my Truck..I figure if they were giving money away, they could have mine and maybe I could get a 16' with 900 ft lbs of love..:). Other then that, besides running hotter then I like, its a good truck.

I thought "Dead Pedal" was a safety feature activated from 2 footed driving or going too fast from brake to accelerator?????

It is, but there are a lot of owners that have a delay in throttle response. Mostly occurs when someone is on the pedal, let's off and jumps back on go pedal. There are others that experience the delay when trying to pass other vehicles where a sudden and sharp increase in speed is necessary.

I've felt it while test driving both Aisin and 68RFE trucks. Some are worse than others.

JHawes, are you going to hold off for a 2016?

This forum would be a good place for people to post about their "buy-back" experiences.

I wonder how different the experiences will be from dealer to dealer.

I imagine we will see big differences. I always get advertisements in the the mail about how dealers want my used truck.

I imagine if you don't qualify for the buy back, you could get jacked over thinking you're getting a buy back deal when you're not.

The buy back deal probably has oversight. Regular trade-ins don't.
