Hi gang. Forget what I said about the ultimate fifth wheel hitch by Anderson. Today while backing the truck and trailer up into my parking space there was enough angle to where the truck cab collided together with the Montana knocking out my window and also Denting the cab on my new truck.. So now I will be going to a super glide.Thing is that we did a real tight U-turn with a hitch on the trailer and it was OK. The only thing I can think of is it that you turn that we made was a left and you turn in this was a right-hand turn into the driveway..I love the fact that the Anderson were so light and so easy to use. However I need to be absolutely sure that the trailer will not hit the cab on the short bed truck. Hitch would be great on a long bed.

Possibly I will sell it... However, the truck place I bought it from Guaranteed I would not hit the cab... I will either trade it in for the pull rite or sell it.... I have not even mounted the cable yet for the release...

Are you going to sell the hitch.

Let me take some and I will post them... stupid me.... I feel horrible...

Look, the only people I know who don't ever make mistakes, don't ever do anything. Quit beating yourself up and leave that to us, we're pro's. I'd be asking the the dealer who guaranteed it wouldn't hit what they planned to do about making things right. The window alone is over $500. They don't sell individual panes as far as I know.

DFB.....yours is not the 1st shortbed to have clearance issues with a 5'er.

....and it won't be the last.
Can't wait to see the expression on the salesman's face that sold you the hitch when you reiterate the statement below.

"However, the truck place I bought it from Guaranteed I would not hit the cab..."

When it's all said & done.....looks like you have minimal cab damage. Chock it up as a "beauty mark" and pop a new rear slider in & call it good.

Thanks GS.... Now I need to be called Idiot! Dummy! and whatever else fits... Looks like a super glide....

Lol. Sounds familiar.

On the bright side, the Pullrite people are as helpful as can be. I've never seen a sliding goose neck hitch, but if it exists, they'll know how to do it. I have had the same Pullrite Superglide on two shortbed trucks since '06 with many thousands of miles of towing and nearly no maintenance...

Well I'll be darned. I stand corrected (by myself). Pullrite calls it a horse trailer adapter and it converts their regular Superglide to a goose neck slider. Now THAT is cool.

Let me get this straight you are using a Gooseneck hitch on your Montana 5th wheel? Oh well it is only a Lippert Frame and a Keystone product.

I have been using a manual slider since I purchased my first 5er back in Sept 07 with my SB Chevy. Sold the Chevy and purchased the Ram in Nov 07 and moved my hitch over to the truck.

Sorry, you had to experience this but I have always stated that there are two type of SB users who pull a 5er without a slider hitch. Those that have hit the cab and those that will hit the cab! No way around that statement and do not believe sales people.

Dude, it happens. Curious about your "guarantee" that it wouldn't hit... was that just a dealers word or is there some type of written guarantee? My first truck had a nice shiny chrome bumper... backed into a tree stump the first week. After that, with my second new truck I was towing a flatbed landscape trailer with a broken coupler. Didn't know the coupler was broken... until I hit a pothole and the trailer came off and slammed into my new rear bumper.

Thankfully my current truck is a used 2015, already had some small dents and dings... so I didn't have to put the first one on it.

I promise you that if you take a close look at standard beds hauling 5ers at the rv park, you will see a lot of them have a little ding or dent by the back window... they did it too.

I'm bettin' that whomever made that verbal "guarantee" is going to have a case of amnesia when you confront them.......

best of luck!!

Sam

The dealer is taking it back tomarrow. Nice folks.. I bought a used 2700 superglide with cover. Hitch dealer is actually taking back the Andersen and will credit me toward a ram hitch box and capture plate! How'd you guys know I have Allstate? Called Andersen and the were great. May even help with repair. They think it happened when my 5ver went up on the driveway..

No problems at all.. Andersen may help with the repair...they asked for pics and if I was going into a gutter to the driveway. This is a great company who really cares about their reputation and the people they serve. The product they make is really high quality at a great value. I'm very sorry this just did not work for me.. I really think this may have been a rare occurance. Please don't let my boo boo influence your interest in the Andersen...

They (Manufacturer) have/has a youtube video that I looked up yesterday that says it is safe to use with a 5 1/2 foot bed.
And they show pics of it in the turned position. Anderson probably feels obligated
