I filled at 7 feathers and also with the def. white rid is dried fluid...we are staying at 7 feathers. Nice park. The SHORTBED mega is one mean pulling machine. While hitting the grades, th mode, I keep it in 4 with cruise at 60... No slowing or downshifts! Fanastic pickup... Love it. Use he auto exhaust brake and the truck will keep it at that speed. No downshift..

I found that the auto EB setting had to wide of a speed variation of speed on EB vs cruise speed. I set it at 55 at the top of the Tehachapi on 58 and it would roll up to 59 or 60 before the EB would kick in. SNOKING

Would also be interesting ro hear how Locking in 4th with EB on full works. With an occasional light tap on the accelerator to release the EB?

OK, have not found Auto to be useful so far as noted above. I run down hills in 3 or 4 depending on the hill. If it slows to much then a little throttle solves that.

As I noted the Banks EB on the 2001.5 seems like it had more hold back. If RAM detuned the EB so as not to knock horses and cows over, I would vote to screw the live stock and turn it back up. Went down Siskiyou Mountain in 3rd and still had to use brakes on sharp curves.

4:10's must hold back better as Ron is 5T heavier than us. Snoking

So did you use cruise control in 3rd?

I use 3rd and 4th depending but almost always use cruise control and FULL EB with TH. All depending on the grade on occasion I touch the brakes for a second or two then hit resume on the cruise.

Yes, still had 4-5 MPH speed over run before the exhaust Brake came on. Snoking

Sorry to beat a dead horse. Did you try having EB on FULL with TH on then at the crest of the hill set speed at 55 and let off and allow the computer and EB to maintain 55mph?

I am confused about 5 over BEFORE EB came on??? As soon as I am descending ands I have cruise and EB set the EB is ON.

OK, have not found Auto to be useful so far

I hate AUTO too. Every time I accidentally hit the EB twice, I want to plunge my hunting knife into the dash to gouge the AUTO out of my dash. That's why I have a manual G56 transmission.

What RPM's are you running in regards to your complaint???

Did you set cruise at say 55 lock 3rd then decent the 6% grades with EB full on?

I put the ebook brake not on full but auto. It will keep your speed at what you brake your speed down to. I tow in 4 which is 1 to1 ratio....then increase cruise speed when at bottom oh grade..

Was Banks EB or PAC brake ever an option or ever standard on pre DPF Cummins 6.7? Seems like the current EB is mainly there to assist with active regens. Since the Cummins 5.0 in the Nissan Titan doesn't have an EB, i wonder how they do an active regen?

Did pre DPF trucks ever come with Banks EB or PAC Brake as factory options or standard? Seems like the current trucks need the EB for active regens. I've noticed the Cummins 5.0 in the new Nissan Titan doesn't have an EB. Wondering how the Titan performs active regens?????

I see many of you long time Cummins owners speaking of Banks EB & Pac Brake. My question is were any of these offered on previous model Ram Cummins before the current Ram (4th gen) EB? Buddy of mine who ran a 97 Cummins Ram for 500,000 miles was surprised to see my truck.come.standard with EB.

My take is the EB is an important part of the DPF active regen process. That's why it comes on all 4th gens.

Another question i have is how does the Cummins 5.0 do an active regen without the EB?????

I have noticed some of the long time Dodge/Ram Cummins owners talking about Banks EB & Pac Brake. My question is, "Did either of these come as factory options or standard on previous Dodge/Ram Cummins? Seems like the current EB on 4th gen trucks is there mainly for active regens. So we actually have benefitted from some of the EPA regulations.

Another question comes to mind. How does the Cummins 5.0 on the Nissan Titan do.an active regen? I suspect they will have a real DPF problem on their hands????

I have seen several long-time Ram/ Cummins owners speak of Banks EB & Pac Brake. My question is were those ever offered as factory options? Or standard equipment? A friend of mine who ran a 97 Second gen Cummins was surprised to hear that all 4th gens come standard with an EB.
Although sometimes the emissions on the ram seem to be a liability because it can have problems, we have benefitted from the addition of the EB.

My take is the only reason the EB is standard is so it can engage in active DPF regens.

Another question i have is, "Does the Cummins 5.0 on the Nissan Titan do active regens? It doesn't have an EB to apply a load during active regen. Or will those Cummins engines have serious DPF probs?
