I finally got around to looking into this myself. Called the 1-800 number on the Mopar Vehicle Protection website first, was quoted over $3300 for an 8yr/120k max care plan. Contacted a dealer that sent me a random email next, they quoted $2400+. Finally, I called the dealer I purchased the truck from back in January, they were just under $2400 (supposedly $100 above their cost). Just out of curiosity, I sent an email back to the mopar rep from the 1-800 number. I told him the dealer I got the truck from was quite a bit lower and asked if he could do any better. His response was that Chrysler would not reduce the cost of the plan, but they do not prevent the dealers from doing so. He a simply advised that I make sure that the dealer is pricing a Mopar plan (the link they sent for the coverage is the moparvehicleprotection.com). This is for a 2500 four door, 4x4 tradesman. So yeah, I'd say Mr Beard wins!

Ask them if Laramie's cost more?? I paid in that neighborhood for the same warranty on my Laramie. Is there a deductible? Mine is $100. SNOKING

Don't buy anything but the actual FCA extended warranty. My dealer sold me a 3rd party extended warranty (I know, I wasn't watching closely enough!) when we bought our truck. They've done everything possible to weasel out the 2 times I've tried to use it. What a load of crap.

Got a call yesterday from a guy telling me he was "Reviewing my file & noticed that my warranty on my 2013 Ram was about to expire." I hung up on him. He apparently didn't see the Max Care 7yr/70k warranty. I've got 21,580 miles in 2 1/2 years. At 7 years i should have no more than 65,000 miles unless i get transferred to a different worksite. I think it was one of those 3rd party warrantees. I had trouble getting them (third party) to agree to pay in the past.

I called the number other members posted on page one and three (888-352-6103) after getting a quote from Ziegler (another place folks on this post referenced as being cheap.) The 888 number is to CR Motors in Hudon, MI, a Chrysler, Ram, et. al. dealer. $2120 for a 8/120 max care out the door (price went up from $2060 on Apr 1.) CR had the best price I found, beat Ziegler by $100. I agree that extended warranties can be a sucker bet and this truck has been trouble free to date (knock on wood), but my '12 experiences and the amount of electronic stuff on the Laramie plus emission controls has me staying stock and under a nice and comfy warranty umbrella.

Extended warranties are pretty subjective for vehicle owners...some think they're a good investment and others feel that they're a waste of money.
In fact, they are a waste of money...until you need to use it. It's just like health insurance. If you need it and don't have it, it's too late to get it.
For the first year of average driving with a new vehicle, there's no problem because of the factory warranty, but go one day over the purchase anniversary, and you're not covered. When you have a failure, you can argue that it was only one day or one week over the expiration date, but you knew the rules before you played the game.
I'm on my 6th CTD since my first one 20 years ago, and I've had the Chrysler Maxi-Care [CMC] on each and every one. I don’t know whether or not I have come out ahead, but one thing for certain is that I’ve had piece of mind never having to worry about a maintenance expense.
As I have purchased the extended warranties over time, I have become smarter and wiser, and I have learned quite a bit that has reinforced my decision to continue buying extended warranty coverage.
Once the decision has been made to purchase an extended warranty, I know that CMC is the only logical option...THAT'S NOT AN ARGUABLE POINT! Anything else may be OK, but that would be a crapshoot!
People quoting what they have paid for the CMC extended warranty don't always give enough information for readers to determine if they got a good deal or not.
You need to know 1) the warranty period (years), 2) the miles of coverage, and 3) the deductible amount. Also, critical to the cost is whether or not the vehicle is a diesel or 4WD.
I purchased a 7yr./100,000mi./0$ deductible on my 2016 CTD 4WD for $2950. In my search, that was the best that I was able to find, but someone out there might even be able to beat that. The important point is that the cost is variable from source to source, depending upon their profit incentive.
I have learned that you can purchase the CMC extended warranty from any Mopar dealer, face to face or on-line. Where the CMC was purchased is of no concern to the servicing dealer.
The CMC is a significant profit center for many dealers, and the price is variable, depending upon which source you talk to. The Ziegler Group advertises heavily on-line and does offer a pretty good price. I contacted them, but ultimately purchased my CMC from Reidman Motors in Connorsville, IN. I found them on the web, and called Tricia (877-223-9673). She was very knowledgeable and efficient.
One of the most significant pieces of information about the CMC that most owners are unaware of is that the ownership of the CMC is the property of the person who purchases the CMC. It is not attached to the physical vehicle like an accessory item. When you sell the vehicle, if you are still within the warranty period, you have the option to give away or sell that warranty to the new owner (if a private sale), just let it expire, or get a rebate from Chrysler upon request. On two of my previous vehicle sales to a private party I used the warranty as a sales feature. On my last vehicle, which was traded to the dealer on my new truck, I simply requested a refund on the unused warranty from Chrysler.
There is a lot of wisdom and life experience in the above text, and I hope that it will help someone make a better decision.

I didn’t buy an extended warranty from the dealer that i bought the truck from. I didn't even ask how much they would charge. I just thought they were hiking up their profits. They did try to sell me a warranty and offered to roll it into my loan. I assumed they were giving me a lousy price because i have always had trouble with these finance wizards at the dealerships. (And i have always assumed i was getting screwed by both the sales person and the finance person.) I read somewhere that the dealer is the best place to buy an over-priced warranty. But there may be some good people out there at dealerships that i haven't met.
I bought the CMC online. When i bought the truck, i wasn't savvy enough to know what a good deal is on a diesel Max Care.

The Finance Manager when we bought our 2016 2500 Laramie tried to sell us a 7 year 120k Warranty. But it took away the 5yr/100k warranty on the engine. He said that it covered everything, but I read it and it did away with the engine warranty.

I suspect that you may have misread the warranty.

I didn't have a power train claim, but bought the extended 7 yr/70k warranty 2 1/2 years ago. With 3 months left on my 3 yr/36k bumper, i had a leaky 3rd brake light replaced. (Water intrusion into cab). I don't think my 7 yr/70k Max Care covers leaky brake lights. It was advertised as covering "everything mechanical", but also seems to cover everything electrical. But i think it falls short of bumper-to-bumper coverage. Leaky brake lights are covered by bumper-to-bumper coverage, but i don't think the 7 yr/70k voided my bumper-to-bumper warranty. And others who have bought Max Care warranty have not complained of losimg the powertrain coverage. At least, the FCA warranty doesn't void the powertrain warranty.

4wd, diesel, laramie 2500, 8 year/120k miles, max care, $100 deductible, bought when I had 8,500 miles on my truck, paid $2120 all in. Like I said best deal I found.

I just got the 8 year /120k w/$100 deductible for $2270 from the dealer where I am picking up my new 2016 3500 Big Horn next week. I told them that Ziegler quoted $2470 and they offered to beat it by $200. I probably would have said yes if they just matched it. :)

Spoke with Chrysler Warranty Direct (888-352-6103) and they quoted 7/75/100D for $1315.00 and 8/120/100D for $2470.00. Truck is a 2016 Ram 3500 Diesel. Same prices as Riedman Motors.

Person I spoke with said trim level does not matter. Year, months in service, diesel/gas, mileage, and model 2500/3500 are the factors.

You won't find a better price for 7/75/100D. You might find a better price for 8/120/100D.
I'm assuming Max Care?

I paid $1840.00 for 7/70/100D from Chrysler Direct online. But that was before I checked out this forum.

Maybe I will call them tomorrow in the morning. Thanks for the phone number.

You can also get a quote and purchase on-line from Chrysler Warranty Direct (http://chryslerwarrantydirect.com/). Press the "Get Started" button and it will ask you for Make/Model/Year/Mileage and then display all of the warranty prices. This includes all Year/Mileage combinations as well as deductibles. You can then start the purchase process right there. I just purchased the 7/75/100D for $1315.00. Best price I have found.

I just went to the Chrysler warranty direct website and plugged in the info for my 2016 Ram 3500 with 0 miles. I got the exact same price that was quoted by Zigler, 8 yr, 120,000 Miles, $100 deductible - $2470.
But as I said, the dealer that sold me the truck offered to beat that price by $200 when I showed him the quote. So I got the CMC with the same limits/ded, for $2270.

As long as everybody is bragging here......:-laf I got you all beat.....How about an 8yr/120k/100d for free...... When I was having all the trouble with my 2014 (which they eventually bought back) after a number of monthly repair visits, FCA called me up, ought of the blue, said they felt terrible about all my troubles:rolleyes: have a free maxcare warranty. Even cooler was they transferred it to my replacement 2016 truck.......way cool! Now, I hope I never need to use it.........

Good for you Sam.
I'm Not bragging, just putting info out that might help someone save some money. Knowledge is power.
Knowing what others paid helped me find a decent deal too.

I know ......I was funnin' around.:) Just wanted to show that FCA does, in fact, have people who care about the customer......the trick is finding those folks when you are dealing with the FCA monster.
