The time is rapidly approaching to do my first fuel filter(s) change. I've read the owner's manual and did a forum search and can't find anything that talks about restarting after the change, except the owner's manual which just says to restart engine. On my previous trucks, I'd turn the key to 'on' for a bit to allow the pump to fill the filter and then start. Now, with 2 fuel filters to fill, is there any additional procedure necessary or just do the same as in the past? Thanks for any insight.

I just did this the other day, and if I remember correctly, the instructions were to turn the key to "run" for 4 seconds, then off and repeat 4 times total. Then restart the engine. With that said, both times I have done this, I've had to do the entire procedure twice, before it would start. It also had some warning about not engaging the start for more than 15 seconds I think....with 2 minute cool down in between.

My engine mounted fuel filter came with instructions on how to change the filter, and the restart procedure.

I've changed the fuel filters about 12 times on my '14. It generally takes over 10 or 12 times (key cycles) to get the system re-primed after replacing both fuel filters.

With the tip-start system, there's no more "bumping" of the starter to gain a longer cycle of the in-tank electric fuel pump.

I just turned mine to the run position waited just a few seconds then stepped on the brake pedal and pushed the start button. It stuttered just a bit then all was well.

I just went through this. I bumped the starter and let it crank 3-4 seconds. I turned the key back to acc to stop the starter, then back to the run position. I could hear the fuel pump running. After a few seconds ( maybe 10) I hit the starter and it fired right up.

There's no bumping of the starter with the key start system either (for priming)

Oops, edit: maybe jhenderson just found the combination. I didn’t go to acc and back to run. I think maybe I turned all the way to off?????

On the push button start I think you go to start without touching the brake pedal and the pump runs. Will know more next week as I am going to do first filter replacement. Snoking
