Neighbors from Colorado have a summer place up the road, haven't been able to come to Maine for three years. We have been helping keep watch of the place, etc....really nice people.

They made the decision to sell the summer place as he is trying to ready for retirement and didn't feel up to having two residences....so they put it on the market expecting to sell it next spring....guess what, under contract within a week and a half....

Place was full of furniture, etc..ready to stay in at a moments notice... so all of a sudden they are trying to sell everything.

Asked us if we were interested in the Bayliner boat they had in the garage....hadn't been out in the daylight since summer of 2013. Talked it over with the wife, grandkids are big enough now to tow on a tube and will be water skiing before long....so they made us an offer we simply couldn't refuse....

Started lugging stuff to the house Friday night....

Boat with Trailer (Boat full of ropes, anchors, etc.) and a complete cover.
Brand new water skis
Brand new tube
Brand new life vests
Ropes, floats, gas cans, battery charger for the boat, etc...

16' of custom aluminum dock with wheels on one end. Cedar planking for the dock.

One paddleboat just like new...

Propane fireplace for the deck.....

Wow, just like we had a mind.......

So had a previous commitment for Saturday (trip to Greenville on the Can Am) which left yesterday to .......

See if boat will start...

See if boat sinks when put in water....

Learn boat terms really quickly like keel, bilge, transom, trim, etc...

Get new dock out into lake and tied down....

Get paddleboat in water....

So yesterday morning was spent rolling around on the floor of the boat working on engine.....had three brass plugs and could only find two places to put them on the motor....finally figured out that the third plug goes in the back of the boat to block the drain....if I had not installed it one would refer to "See if boat sinks" in the post above.

More on my struggles later but here are a few pictures of the craft...

I remember the first time I saw my older brother walk to the back of his ski boat ( while at about 1/2 throttle) and pull the plug while I held the wheel. That got my undivided attention. It does drain rainwater from the hull quickly.

That's why I was having such a hard time to find where the third pipe plug went. Any other boat that we ever owned had the drain plug on the inside. Apparently when you go all fancy with bilge pumps and such the plug goes in from the outside of the boat. Who knew..:D

BOAT may have another meaning in Maine but its Southern Vernacular is "Bust Out Another Thousand", with that said enjoy the time with the Grand kids.

Haven't named it yet, "Titanic" and the "S.S. Minnow" are in the running of course.....maybe even "Run silent, run deep.."

i've been looking for a boat just like that. they are hard to find around here.
Make sure to run the blower for a min or two before firing it off. i've seen lots of boat fires.
Enjoy, keep the batteries charged. and tanks full till winter.

Had one some years ago and really enjoyed it, but after awhile it fell into the classification of a black hole along with swimming pools, horses and ex-wives.
Enjoy!
