Does this kind of thing ONLY apply to 4X4 trucks?? I have a 2WD, and do wonder if i need to dismantle and inspect.
Thanks in advance !

From what I know it can happen to 2wd also please keep in mind that this is very very rare.
You probably don't have to worry about it. I'm definitely no expert, but there are a lot of people on this forum that will be happy to answer your questions better than me.

But for more peace of mind, you can install a Brace to help take the stress away from this area. It is logical that it is more likely to happen to a lifted truck that also has aftermarket over sized wheels.

I drive a 08 Dodge 2500 4x4 with 20" wheels and has with a leveling kit. Out of caution I changed to a larger steering gear box and I may install the Brace for more peace of mind.

No, the 2WD should have a rack and pinion steering, if my recollection is correct. You don't have a solid front axle, it is an entirely different steering system.
