comrades :

my 2018 2500 that is 5 weeks old got hit with a rock today and cracked the windshield from side to side. any input for replacement? i have used many glass companies in the past and feel that the glass most of them use is inferior to the factory glass. however, factory glass, i gather, comes at a big price. safelite autoglass in colorado quoted me about 500. thanks in advance. cheers !

I've always used my insurance. I think I replaced the windshield on my Wrangler a half dozen times all on insurance and never paid out of pocket or had my rates change.

Maybe that's an option?

What ever your insurance will pay for. Mine was an OE installed by Safelite glass in the RV park in Pahrump,NV when we were there for May Madness 2 years ago.

I suggest getting the same brand the factory installed.

One time I got a Safelite brand windshield (out of town, Saturday, windshield caved in by a waterlogged pine branch, needed it fixed quick), and some areas of the windshield distorted the view through it.

Since then I always get the original brand, and my insurance ($0.00 glass deductible) always covers it. Pre-approval, of course.

Florida has free windshield replacement(If you carry comprehensive insurance or that is what my insurance agent says. Plus every time I got it replaced my premium went up
).
I will have look to see which glass company did it . But they did right. My windshield cracked under warranty. The company the dealership used Diana quick job so did the factory. I will have look up the company that did the quick job to.
Make sure they take the old sealant out and put a new bead in or it will crack again.

Also on a side note every few years we have young men come around wanting to fix your window and all they need is your insurance policy number, yeah right!
The head guy looks like a thug right out of Chicago or New York.

Try Auto Glass Now. They have shops in Denver and Albuquerque. Some waive deductible, some may have you pay half of the deductible for OEM glass.

Guardian Glass

How long did it take Guardian glass to replace your windshield? I had a side window on my 5th wheel break, and Guardian glass told me it would be a month to order and install. I contacted manufacturer, HEHR, and they sent me a replacement window within 24 hours.

That’s because you didn’t ask for PPG glass. That’s like ordering a mixer at a bar and just expecting top shelf booze.
