Has anyone on here removed the plastic drip/funnel pan below the oil filter ? Did it give you access to the filter?
The drip trough is simply a piece of plastic mounted on that section of the frame crossmember. Removing the drip trough will not allow any access to the oil filter from below.Has anyone on here removed the plastic drip/funnel pan below the oil filter ? Did it give you access to the filter?

Thanks for the great article. Have you used amsoil since new?
I ran it in my y2k with a dual remote amsoil filters. These fourth gens are good candidates for a remote filter.

Thanks for the info.one thing I think it will offer is being able to put a oil filter socket on an extension to be able to loosen the filter,I tried this yesterday and it was not a straight enough shot.
I’m long over the warm fussy feelings. you don’t think it would be easier to get the filter loose from down there with the plastic gone, and take it out the wheel well.
I would just invest in this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07458MQ2V/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I38RKOQ1D0WFUL&colid=13ULP3NTT346G&psc=0
Or a universal oil filter band wrench.
It definitely looks easier than a strap/band wrench. I may get one myself.I use the strap wrench from the top but I may try what you showed.
