Has anyone on here removed the plastic drip/funnel pan below the oil filter ? Did it give you access to the filter?

I think on the new frames 2014+ 2500's & 2013+ 3500's, the oil filter is only accessible from the wheel well or the top?

The drip trough is simply a piece of plastic mounted on that section of the frame crossmember. Removing the drip trough will not allow any access to the oil filter from below.

Thanks for the info.one thing I think it will offer is being able to put a oil filter socket on an extension to be able to loosen the filter,I tried this yesterday and it was not a straight enough shot.

Thanks for the great article. Have you used amsoil since new?
I ran it in my y2k with a dual remote amsoil filters. These fourth gens are good candidates for a remote filter.

you can get the filter right through the wheelwell, why try any other way? as far as Scamsoil use goes, its not on Cummins Oil Registration list so I don't know why anyone buys it other than being susceptible to marketing.

I have ran AMZ/OIL products since the mid 70's. I use the Signature series 15-40 with FleetGuard filters and run a full 15K on each change with great reports from Blackstone on every change. Even with the remote filtration I would never exceed 15K while under warranty. My last change they suggested I "could" go 17K but they said to stay at 15 until warranty is up.

6V92TA, please show me your Blackstone report with 15K on your 13 or newer Cummins with towing 33-35K 1/3 of the miles using any oil you want.

No advantage, the filter still won't come out thru the bottom. Not enough clearance. But it won't hurt because it's useless. It may give you a warm and fuzzy feeling to be able to see the oil filter from the bottom of the truck for the first time in your life but that's about it. ha. I've got 3 videos on oil change if you search youtube for marion blair which kind of show my learning progression.

With the right wrench, swivel and extension it can be done

I’m long over the warm fussy feelings. you don’t think it would be easier to get the filter loose from down there with the plastic gone, and take it out the wheel well.

Yea, just kidding. A short 3/8" ratchet with 93 mm filter socket and a short cheater makes it simple. The hardest parts is stabbing the filter not taking it off.

Thanks for the help,I checked out your video on oil change and fuel filters some good info and techniques, keep up the good work.
