Looking from the top can you see holes if they are on the pump?

The vent hole,if equipped,is located at the 10 o’clock position behind the water pump pulley.
With a good light I would say yes.Only the concentric built pump has to have the hole, the omb pump is fine without the hole.

This should eliminate some fear. Check your pump and see if it needs to be replaced. But remember if you have a pump that is one of the good ones, you still need to go down to your dealer and have them do the inspection and delete the recall from the system. Some states are blocking vehicle registration renewal if the vehicle has an open recall.

If you have the OMP, no replacement. If you have a Concentric with vent hole no replacement.

T51 recall replacement water pumps are available, called my dealer and made my appointment this morning.

Called the number you posted and they contacted local dealer, found that they have the water pump in stock so have appointment next week to do that recall. Parts for brake transmission shift recall not in yet. Thanks for posting the phone number. Hope you get yours done soon. I'm a good 100 miles from you but appears some new WP are in the area.
I know this isn’t anything new, but I inquired about the status of the T51 Water Pump recall having a remedy sometime soon.

When I return home from my current location, I have a nice drive from VA to my new duty station in CO. I’d feel better about the drive knowing the water pump recall has been repaired. Maybe I’m making a bigger deal of this than necessary.

I also asked about the post recall water pump Geno’s Garage has available. Below is there response to my inquiry that I received this evening:

Dear Thomas,

Thank you for contacting the RAM Customer Assistance Center.

We do apologize that your vehicle is under recall for T51 DIESEL WATER
PUMP and T79 BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK. We understand your
frustration, and how long it is taking. To explain the process to you,
when we at Chrysler find an issue with certain vehicle we immediately
provide customers with the knowledge that we will be issuing a remedy
for the situation, but then must engineer, test, manufacture, and
distribute a new part, ensuring that it will remedy the situation
permanently. I understand that the time frame for this process can be
undesirable in length, but we are working as quickly as possible to
ensure that the issue will be remedied for you. What I have done is
place you onto a special tracking list so that you will be contacted by
mail, and email or phone, once the parts become available.

In regards to your inquiry about Geno's Garage having the recall part to
correct the concern, being the parts for both recalls have yet to be
distributed to the dealerships, the part would not remedy the situation.
If customers experience an issue with the water pump, dealerships can do
an interim repair, however, once the recall part becomes available
customers will need to take the vehicle to the dealer for a free
inspection for the recall repair. It is possible that the recall may
still need to be completed on the vehicle.

Thank you again for your email. Should you require additional
assistance, or have any new information to provide, please reply to this
email message or call 1-866-RAM-INFO(1-866-726-4636).

Just venting my frustrations as I’m sure many of us may have. Heck, some of y’all may have inquired and received a similar email. Y’all take care.

One down, one to go. Water pump recall has been completed. Now just waiting for the parts for the transmission recall to become available.

I had an appt scheduled at a dealer to have the pump inspected. I had something else to do in town while it was being done, so no big deal. Then the second appt was cancelled so I called the dealer to see if they would just replace the pump, because after my inspection I found that it is the defective one. They said they had to inspect it and order it if it needed to be replaced. I told him that I was over two hours away and didn't want to drive over four hours just for an inspection. I told him that I have been doing mechanics since I was 10 years old and yes it is the defective pump. I then asked if he had one in stock? They didn't. Do you have any pumps for this truck in stock? The answer was still no. This is a large dealership, I was floored. I said I used to be a counterman at a NAPA store and the waterpump has a high failure rate on the Cummins and I couldn't believe they didn't stock a pump for this truck. We kept two on the shelf.

This was a different dealership than the one I usually use because of a unhappy experience at that one.

Due to the high number the orders have been restricted to 7 per week per dealer,to get all 7 the parts manager can not make any mistakes.dealers with a number of unsaleable units in stock get an extra allowance to get those units back into a sale able status.
At my old dealer one tech is spending a half day every day doing pumps, they also have a second qualified tech doing many per day

Looks like it would be best to wait ? I am in no rush. I waited on the track bar, and SCR hoping the shop experience would be beneficial. No issues with either.

It sounds like this water pump replacement is pretty simple. I will probably give my local dealership a month, and then make an appointment. I have the concentric ,no vent hole, so looks like a replacement.

Sounds like everybody's experience is a little bit different. I called my dealer, he said he needed to inspect it first...which he said I could just stop by after work and they run out and look at it, which they did. Then, once it was verified, he could order a pump based on my vin (as being part of the recall) then they would get a pump in quickly. A couple days later they called and said it was in. My appointment is tonight after work.
