I have a 2016 with chrome bumpers/grill/etc. Has anyone gone through the process of blacking out their truck? I'm sure painting the bumpers and grill is the majority of it, but those damn headlights and tail lights won't match the blackout "sport" package. I'm okay with chrome on the mirrors and door handles, but want to blackout the rest of the truck. I'm guessing those headlights and tail lights are really expensive? Let me know if anyone knows the cost of doing this. I just hate the chrome on my new truck.

Headlights are Mopar , just under 700.00 . Taillights are aftermarket led about 350.00. side marker , cab lights , 3rd brake light led aftermarket from recon

Search the inter web for smoked headlights/taillights. CARiD has a big selection of both. Rockauto has unpainted black door handles and mirrors. I don’t know how anyone can stand looking at those awful chrome ones. I did a temporary fix for the grille and rims by Plasti-dipping them. It turned out so good I’ve left it on for three years. For the bumpers, I guess you could either paint, powder coat or bedliner. I built my own front bumper and had it sprayed black with bedliner. Still working on the rear. I also removed all the badges, looks way cleaner.

You could plastic wrap the bumpers. I personally don’t have experience with this process othe than seeing hoods and hole cars that were done

Hmmm, plasti-dipping? I've never heard of that. Would it be cheaper to paint the bumpers to match or plasti-dip? I'm basically wanting the sport package look, but I wasn't able to order a sport because my truck purchase was last minute end-of-the year deal. I'm wondering how it would look if I just did the grill, bumpers, and tail lights and then left the headlights, door handles and mirrors as is....

For longevity, don’t dip the bumper. It doesn’t handle road debris very well. Also, if you’re wanting it to stay shiny, plasti dipping is not for you. It’s more of a matte finish. If you plan on professionally painting the grille, get some estimates and compare the cost to just buying a black grille.

I think JackFate was talking about the wrap they use on cars and Buses for signs and graphics. If done right it'll look as good as paint. Yes it will chip but the great thing about the product is i can be removed and re done at a minimal cost. It's not a dip but more like tape that gets heated and stretched on. Also one of the spray paint companys, Douplocolor (sp?) I think makes a paint for wheels that can be easily applied then when it gets beat up easily removed. They advertise it can be used on chrome bumpers.

Yup, I believe you’re right, my mistake.
I tried the Duplicolor on my rims and grille, it didn’t work as good as the Plasti-dip. That’s just my experience with it, maybe others have had better luck.

Does anyone know who much a black front grill costs for a 2016? My truck is black but it's the metallic black, I think it's called granite crystal. Let me know how much a new grill costs of you have purchased one. And dawizman, yes I wish I would have had the opportunity to order my truck with the sport package but there were none available when I bought mine. So I'm thinking just change the bumpers/grill and tail lights and it will be good enough.

I’ve never liked the all-black look....lol

Btw, the black paint is called Brilliant Black...like mine. The other color is a dark gray, It’s Called Granite Grey Metalic.

What state are you from? I have black door handles and mirrors, painted wheels on my truck.

And by the way, if there's anyone in Southern California who wants to trade their black bumpers/grill for my chrome bumpers/grill I'll pay you for the trade. Just shoot me a PM.

New take off wheels and tires ($1300) and used grill ($400) I bought local, found them on the Facebook marketplace.
I have a local parts place that quoted me a Factory front bumper primered grey at $175 and rear factory black bumper at $325
I sold the chrome clad factory wheels/tires on Craigslist for $800
