You didn't like my last one on checking the pump bearing, I thought that was genius.? I always get that one thumbs down from you but that one was good, you have to admit. Come on Minnow throw me a bone.

Honest Injun, I've tried to watch that one three times now and get almost half through it before falling asleep. Luckily for me I have a soft touch key board for when my head hits the keyboard.

Just a bit of advice; sometimes it's better to be right about your topic then try to be the first to upload a video.

That's not at all what I'm about Minnow but I enjoy your comments and thanks for the advise. I an idiot whether I first or last so I don't worry about that stuff. I really thought you'd like my technique of releasing the tension on the belt from the bottom. I tried every which way possible to get to it from the top. Watch it when you're ready to go to sleep. ha https://youtu.be/Kd27Z1KtVrM

Very nice Too Tall, keep up the good videos. I'm sure there are many on this forum that are educated watching your videos, thank you.

You really need to let this go. You won't get an argument out of me.

Funny, you've been making excuses, each one with more incorrect information, from my first criticism. One of us needs to let it go alright, but I don't think it's me. As for learning something from everyone; that's a very good point. You can. All of us together are smarter that any one of us. However, to let bad info slide does nobody a service. What I picture is someone talking to the service advisor or tech and spouting demonstrable falsehoods or myths. That immediately puts the customer at a disadvantage to say the least. I know it did when I was turning wrenches. I got so tired of being told what the problem was from people without a clue that I left the business and went to the woods where the only ignorance I had to deal with was my own.

I am sorry you had such bad experience dealing with people as a mechanic. It had to be tormenting to drive you into seclusion. I figured there had to be something causing your anger towards me. Life is too short to go postal over a water pump. The problem with these forums is we can't see each other and have a normal conversation. i bet you, Minnow and I could be good friend if we were sitting having a cup of coffee. I'm very blessed as I love talking to people, even those that don't like me. I try to be as respectful as i can because you never know what a person's going through in there personal life. I can only imagine how frustrating it must have been, mechanics are not very appreciated for sure, especially dealer mechanics. I wish you the best and try not to get too worked up when you see idiots like me making silly little video. Check out my last one above. You can critique that one for me also, i think i did a better job on that one.

Greg, I think you are one of the most knowledgeable people on this forum. The mileage you put behind the wheel and doing your own maintenance is admirable.
Thanks for the kind words, Marion. I appreciate it!!!

Not really sure about the knowledgeable part.....but I do have a huge amount of real-world experiences in regards to my RAM 3500 ownership.

HAAAAAAA, I knew that was coming.

With all this kindness, I see a group hug coming :D

I think we all need to practice Too Tall's attitude, and not take the bait so to speak.

To Too Tall, I have watched your videos ,and thought them informative. I change my oil filter thru the fender :) some of your pointers were helpful.

I am picking up a 2017 with 8000 miles on it 800 miles away. According to the FCA website the water pump has not been replaced. Should I try to get the non factory dealer get the recall done? To be clear, I meant the non factory dealer would have to deliver the truck to a authorized Ram dealer for the recall work to be performed.

I just completed a trip from MN to AZ, almost 2000 miles. Hard not to think about the water pump out in the middle of nowhere in West Texas. Everything worked fine, I am carrying a spare pump but don't want to replace one that is still working OK.

Several times while getting fuel I did use my Fluke Temperature Gun to check the pump temperature. The highest reading I got was 180 degrees.

Nobody other than a dealership will be able to perform the recall. The two dealerships near me can't even give me a time line as to when they can get their hands on a post recall water pump so I've got one on order from Geno's.

The process at my dealer was to get on the replacement list and they did a SPO?....Special Parts Order?...about 3 weeks later I had a new pump. Maybe this will help to push them in the right direction on their needed actions....others may have more details on this inside process.
