I knew I was going to get a comment about oil analysis, maybe I'll look into it, but carbon soot is obvious , isn't it?Please fill in your public signature. Kinda hard to tell what truck you are referring to???
Honestly there is no way to tell the condition of your oil unless you take a test sample and have Blackstone analayz it.
OK then , I will not worry, thanks for the answerMy 03 oil never got black, but the 18 gets black the next day after a change. I've read on here to not worry about it, so I don't.
Just wear some old clothes when you change the rear fuel filter, I had my diesel shower yesterday.
Drain the rear filter into a bag/can before removing. Crack the filter loose with a wrench. Put a Ziplock bag over the filter and spin the filter off. I never spill any fuel this way.My 03 oil never got black, but the 18 gets black the next day after a change. I've read on here to not worry about it, so I don't.

I don’t spill any, either, if it’s properly drained.Drain the rear filter into a bag/can before removing. Crack the filter loose with a wrench. Put a Ziplock bag over the filter and spin the filter off. I never spill any fuel this way.
yours has a much different ,easier configuration than mine]

Same filter, same drain, just a slightly more advantageous location.yours has a much different ,easier configuration than mine

Maybe my locking fuel cap caused an air lock, but will use the ziplock for sure next time.
OP, No one has ask ,So I will start the debate, What lube did you use, to replace the Factory Lube?
No matter what lube used its going to turn black in minutes of Driving
Same filter, same drain, just a slightly more advantageous location.
With that being said.....my 2014 RAM 3500 DRW was still mess-free IF properly drained.
And Cummins12V98 recommends AMZZZZZZZZZZZZ/OIL.....so what's your point?Same here ,connect a hose ,and drain into a bucket ,no big deal .
Although I highly recommend 28mm six point socket for the front filter not the 1*1/8![]()
My 15 takes a long time to get black. 11 was instant. 98 was dark brown at 5k.
